I was recently flying on southwest airlines, and was NOT going to check a bag. I knew my SB or Omega weren't going to fly with the airline folks (no pun intended), so I took along my BB in my pocket, but screwed on one of those led flashlight attachments instead of an atty. The lady asked me what it was, and I said "Just a laser pointer" She let me through. I had my juice in my bathroom bag. No problems, despite their sign that said no e cigarettes in your cary on. Didnt have the guts to try and vape on the plane though as it was only a 2 hr flight...

Cool! I never tried with my SB, it just seemed to look a bit like a pipe bomb or something, and I didn't want to risk getting it taken away. Perhaps I'll try it when I fly this Halloween, and use that attachment, so I can show them its just a flashlight, if they hassle me. I do always stick my chargers in with my laptop though and they never even blink.

What! Southwest had a sign that said 'no e-cigs in carry-on'??

I take all my ecig stuff in my carry-ons. as is. That would be a SB and BB. 20 or so cartomizers, 3 or 4 20 ml bottles of juice and about 10 assorted Li-Ion batteries (one in each PV naturally). The 2 large syringes (one blunt, one sharp) go in a baggie in the checked bag -- because of the needles being like a pocket knife or scissors, etc.

United, US Air, Delta. Never even a second glance. In fact (and I suppose it's the same for all of them) it clearly states that Li-Ion (and pretty much any rechargeable we use?) are allowed but MUST go in carry-on and must NOT go in checked bags and should be packed/carried so as to assure they don't short.

By the way. These are *really* nice. They have them for 14500s and CR123As but unfortunately not for 18650s or CR2s.

I have flown many times with my ecigs and never had any problems. Last flight, about four months ago, I had my SB, BB, BB-PT, and the Precise 10440 (Super-T). I also had a few battery charges and LI batteries with me. I never check baggage anymore unless I am carrying a pistol when I fly, which usually only happens twice a year. With that said, I always keep my ecigs on me in my carry on bag and again, never had a problem. I sometimes smoke the ecig on the plane too, but do so with caution.

First off, while I love my alt smoke units, they produce way too much vapor for smoking on a plane. The Precise 10440 mod I have is perfect for stealth vaping. Being a 10440 style mod, it does not throw off a lot of vapor and is housed in a small package that looks like a pen. I also wear a pullover that I blow my vapor into so its not all over the place looking like smoke. I do not go crazy, just a puff or two every once in a while. Keeping the vent with air blowing on you also helps. I usually pick liquids that do not have a strong sent too. Lastly, common sense and curtsy for those around you is a must. If the person next to me notices, I always explain what the device is and that its not real smoke.

In my experience, I have only once had someone ask me what I was doing and it was another passenger next to me. After explaining it they were totally cool and it was not an issue. I have had a flight attendant look like she might have been watching me after seeing it go up to my mouth and then me blow into my pullover but she never approached me or anything. In that case I was just a little more careful when I puffed and made sure I was not being watched. After several conversations with a few different flight attendants, the general feeling I got is that they are basically practicing a don't ask don't tell policy. They were all aware of ecigs and had been "briefed" by the airline to tell people not to use them on board, but never once have I been told they were prohibited items on a flight.

In summery, you should have no problem taking your ecig on a plane; however if someone sees you smoking you will probably be asked to stop. I would caution pretending your ecig is something its not because if I was TSA the lie would bother me more then knowing what it really was. Lastly, if there is an airline banning ecigs its up to every ecig smoker to make it known you will not use their airline. Hit em where it counts, their profit. Keep in mind that just because you can carry on an ecig does not give you the ok to use it on the plane. If you are going to fly and smoke ecigs on a plane, be careful and use digression. Don't be a donkey and ruin it for all of us.
