So, I've been wanting to build a DIY box mod or something. But I've also been kicking around this ColdHeat idea for a while. Well while I was working on the cold heat I came across my old Black & Decker drill and thought that it may work pretty well.
Using a modified RCA plug wired in and mounted on the end. My 510 atty fits right in there, shocking difference from the standard 510 battery.
Disassembled then reassembled, here it is!

Too funny! Just this past Wednesday I was considering doing the same thing. I've got a B&D AS600 screwdriver (similar to yours, but straight instead of angled) that didn't work, so I went at it. I had to promise myself that I'd make an honest attempt at repairing it before giving in to the temptation to mod, and sadly, I actually got it fixed :sigh: but that doesn't mean that it won't eventually find itself turned into a PV :)

Just a thought, you should remove the gearing and whatnot from the collar and mount the connector where the screwdriver shaft was - i.e. keep the "stock" look of the screwdriver :)

That's great. This one actually worked perfectly, and I guess it still could if I put it back together. I just never used it because it didn't have much torque. I was actually considering removing all of the gearing and putting the cone and stuff back on to have that stock look though. However, without thinking I painted the orange 'collar' a nice black color to use as a temporary stand for when I set one down (now I'm using tall shotglasses). So I could still put make it look stock, it would just be all black, hmmm...

I should be finishing up the ColdHeat one soon too, that thing was a joke of a soldering iron. I might wait until I order a 510 battery connector from madvapes though so I can do it 'right'. I do like the RCA connection though, I can just click the atty in and go. After that I think I'll build something like a lighter, box, or laser mod. This whole thing has almost turned into an addiction itself.

I'm going to withhold treatment for now, but I may need it soon. Finished my first real mod last night which turned out great. Now that I have that under my belt I think I'm going to get back to the Black & Decker this weekend and actually do it right. Waiting on some spare parts (connectors) at the moment so that's slowing me down.
I already have a handful of projects started/planned, flashlight, laser, 2AAA box and I can't wait to get them all done. But then I guess I'll just have to start more. Looks like I might be paying gummy a visit sooner than I thought.
