If I'm reading your initial post correctly, did you say that you used nail polish remover to clean your atomizer? If so, I would definitely throw that one away. The last thing you would want to be inhaling is acetone.
Blu/Volcano/L88b attys are easy to work with. First, when you attach a cartridge to the atomizer, push it down completely then twist the cartridge clockwise once or twice. This strips the foil cover off the inner cartridge. Then remove the cartridge from the atty and look at the small metal mesh bridge on the atty. It is the small tent-like piece. It should have a small bit of foil on it. Use your fingernail to gently remove the foil. If you haven't been doing this, the foil builds up and basically prevents the atty from wicking any fluid from the cartridge. When the atty runs dry, it burns the residual fluid on the coil and produces a sort of nasty flavor.
The only cleaning that need be done with these attys is the occasional rinse with hot tap water. Make sure that its dry before using by letting it sit overnight after blowing it dry. Put a fresh filled cartidge on it and let is sit for at least a minute or two. Then fire it up and see if it works. If that doesn't do any good, then the atty has reached the end of its useful life. Pitch it and use a new one.
Never use toxic cleaners on them. There is a possibility that they will soak into the mesh or coil assembly. When you go to use it, you will be inhaling vaporized chemicals that may be hazardous. Water and PGA are about the only safe materials for those particular attys.
