I have been looking onto this subject for everyone in an effort to help make online buying more hassle free in regards to cc fraud. Here is the first form of information I would like to pass on. Credit card fraud and online shopping

I also called pay pal personally on behalf of the project to be sure my info is accurate. Pay pal has us covered. If you do not have an account, then get one. I am not saying to get the credit card. I have the pay pal debit card and that’s all u need. All you have to do is give them your banking info and you will never have to add money to your pay pal account. It will be tied together. Pay pal is monitoring your best interest 24/7. If they see strange charges they will react by freezing the account. Notification of any purchases are sent to your email account instantly for your records. Then you will get a receipt after funding the purchase has taken place, also via email. Its normal to get the receipt about 1-2 days after you make a purchase. So it’s a good idea to check your email once or twice a day to make sure no strange charges show up. I can go to town use the card and when I get home I have the notification of my purchase already so that’s verified. This is how I buy online. I have never had trouble in the last 8 years. So its tested. I also asked the question regarding the content of the purchase. No restrictions, so u can buy whatever u want and your covered. They also allow a cap on the amount u can make a purchase for. So if u only want to be able to buy $30 worth of ecig supply’s a month then it wont let u go over that amount. That’s not really needed but its an option.

I do not think the vendors are to blame, and if they where, its way too hard for me to verify that. Every one that sent me the info about who they bought from gave me different vendors. One was a strange one though. The vendor bought from and the fraudulent purchases where made in the same area as the vendor was located in. Be that as it may I still do not think it had anything to do with the vendor directly. If any blame should be placed on a vendor I think we all know it would be on the company’s they employ to handle the transactions or lack thereof. Some vendors had stamped companys on the sites but unless you look into what the stamp is then you have no idea what the stamp is for. For instance. Shopcart is not a company that handles transactions. They create software that makes the page that you put your information in. That’s it. What that particular vender did with the information once they had it was a complete mystery.

Credit Card Fraud: What to Do If You Become a Victim - BBB News Center

In conclusion please report this to places like the BBB, and the Consumer Protection, along with the Attorney General. If you do not take action to stop this then why would it stop? Ill take all the free money anyone wants to give me. Why would I say no? My gut tells me its hackers and not anyone you deal with when making purchases’ Go back the the post I made about the afterdawn news letter. Sub to that news letter.

Post Script…. None of witch I have said should be flagged or otherwise noted as controversial. I would never be able to prove any fraud so its not im intent to place blame. I only did this to help people make informed choices before and if your unlucky then after cc fraud. Some may sound crude but things need to be done to stop this.

For everyone that I talked to about this write up I am sorry it took so long. Spring has sprung and things have been crazy here. I still have trees to clear out, and buildings to rebuilt from the storms that took our road and washed it out. I am also a full time MR mom of two needy toddlers so they help take my time. I really wanted to do more but I truly think I have touched on some good stuff here. Any questions just ask and I will do my best to help.

Great information for people striker , but me personally i just prefer prepaid cards :)

Ive never used one of them to be honest. It would be a good choice as well but you have to reload it with money rite? How does that process work?

Thanks for all your hard work Striker.I'm sure you spent many hours on this so we could make an informed decision.
I did and it was my pleasure. :vapor:

Solid info, for sure, except that few vape suppliers in the USA are prepared to run the gauntlet of PayPal's restrictions on anything involving, or related to, e-cigs.
Its a debit account not like buying from ebay. You can buy whatever u want with your own money.

Striker911, great write up!

I know PayPal has a policy against using PP payment system for anything e-cig related in the US... just to be sure I understand, you can use the PP Debit Card for e-cig online purchases?

Thank you for your time. :)
Yes u can and I have done so on every purchase ive made. Its essentially a prepaid card, backed by your checking account with all the perks of pay pal. It is a pay pal card with a master card logo. To be clear. They have two diff cards. Credit, and Debit. I use the Debit.

Here is what the card looks like. You can buy anything the net has to offer no matter what it is.

Do you need something special for the PayPal debit card? I just tried to get one, and it says I'm not "eligible"

LoL I'm eligible for EVERYTHING :)

. On a serious note. Call customer service and ask them what you need. They dont make it easy to be honest, but thats a good thing.

Virtual cc numbers are a service offered by some issuing banks, Chase might be one.

I stick with normal cc, though I use one specific card for all online buys. I don't sweat this stuff, the user is not held liable for data loss fraud like this, and even in a normal lost/stolen card situation federal law limits your liability to $50.

I'd much rather have fraud on a regular cc than having my bank account messed up with debit card type fraud. It really isn't hard to dispute cc fraudulent charges, the banks understand this happens.

Striker theres several types of prepaid cards , most banks offer it , you load the money in the bank or you can also transfer from your account (depends on the bank).

With paypal you can also attach bank account , can just open the account and deposit a small sum to verify it after that just transfer from your main account to the account you have on paypal that way your never have your best interest "exposed".

Regarding the debit card paypal offers if im correct its only available to USA citizens.

With the card I use the bank would never be involved if someone stole my info. Plus I would not want to pay $50 if someone stole my info. Its just nice to know im covered 100%
