Just curious what wattage you guys are comfortable with. I just got my Itaste mvp3.0. I have the Kanger Subtank Nano with a .5 ohm occ. The mvp recommends 25-30 watts for that. But the coil itself says 15-30 watts. Kind of confusing. Anyway I keep mine between 15-20 watts. Anything more heats the tank up too much, like I can feel the heat on my lip.

I just picked up a Kanger Genitank Mega also, haven't tried it yet but it came with 1.8 coils, so I'll probably start at about 6-7 watts and go from there.

I love this thing, so far very happy with my purchase, hopefully it holds up for a long time. I guess just want to see if I'm doing everything safely.

As with anything variable wattage related, start low and go up until you find your sweet spot. Resistance and power are not the only variable to take into account when settling on a wattage setting. Hell they're not really that important. The most important variable is your juice. It's composition, thickness, and flavor profile. Example, I rebuildt two of my Lemos yesterday to .8 builds and stuffed them with the same exact amount of cotton. They're as close as you can get to twin setups. One has Diesel by CG Cake Batter at 21.2 watts and one had Nicoticket Virus at 25.7 watts. The first gets too hot if over 22 watts, and the latter requires heat to get that awesome NT taste out of it. I have to vape Nicoticket Strawnilla at 28watts or it tastes artificial to me. Hell I have to vape 2 - 4 watts under those settings when I wake up, since I like my vapor cooler first thing in the morning; but I also increase a watt or two at night when reading some fantasy novel full of action.

Disclaimer: Before anything sub-ohm and mech related, please read up on Ohm's Law and practice battery safety.

There are various variables that help high wattage vaping. Juice flow and air flow are the culprits here. For example, Kayfuns have a mid 20 watts cieling because they have a smaller chamber (which translates to less space for wicking) and a tight air flow (high airflow cools your coil better than low airflow). I've run lemos and drippers well over 30 watts for the kicks. Good wicking makes it so juice travels faster to the coil and high airflow helps the coil stay cooler rather than scorching your juice and wick.

Also a lot of people are into cloud chasing or like dense, warm, flavourful vapes, for which they need higher powered devices and more coil surface contact. A lot of time this ends up with people having fancy (parallel, clapton, twisted, etc...) coils of a ticker gague wire at high wattages to vaporize more juice at a time. I personally stay between 20 to 30 watts because I mostly do spaced coils with massive cotton on the Lemos. I like around 5 to 7 wraps of 26 gauge kanthal which in my case results on the coil being the width of the Lemo's build deck.

Regarding your tank getting hot. Any type of high power vaping will make your tanks hot. I've been chain vaping Virus while typing this and my Lemo is currently hotish. Most of the reservations people new to high powered vaping is due to fear. Yes they get hot, but unless it's burning hot I wouldn't worry too much. I use delrin tips to avoid that heat on my lips and because I don't like slim and long drip tips. If your tank really gets too hot at such a low wattage, I'd make sure it's assembled correctly, insulators, orings, etc.

I love my MVP 3 and Kanger Subtanks. I've taken to running the 1.2 in my nano and I have a tobacco juice in there that's good anywhere between 17 and 20 watts. Brings the flavor out IMO. And this 1.2 has lasted now 17 days! Now in my mini with the .5 coil, I have some desert juices I've been running anywhere between 23.5 and 30 watts. I didn't listen to people here that said it really depends on the juice at first but now I completely agree. Definitely play around with the watts and work your way up. Something else I didn't listen to at first and I got burned lips and mild nicotine poisoning-starting out on 25 watts lol. Good choice on the MVP 3 and welcome to the owner's club!
