Hi everybody.

Without knowing, I bought what seems to be a knockoff Ego device called an Ego-K/CE4. The packaging is underwhelming, but the device looks all right.

After a Google search, I found this, which looks like mine:

Ego K CE4 Starter Kit 650mAh Battery Clearomizer and Charger Brand New | eBay

I paid about $25 for mine at a Native American reservation nearby.

My problem is that it was pretty fickle, and I'd have to constantly twist it just right while pushing the button to get it to fire. After watching some Youtube videos, I decided that it needed to have its post pulled. I did it once, and it worked a bit better, but eventually I needed to do it again. I think the woman who set it up for me tightened it too much initially.

Now it won't fire at all. The battery lights up, and a small metal tool gets a tiny spark off of the battery contact (I know that's probably not a good thing to do), but when I push the button and twist the device to get it to fire I get nothing.

Do you think I broke the clearomizer's post? Any other ideas? I have analogs for now, but I really wanted to be vaping.

Thanks in advance.

Best to try another delivery device to determine if the problem is with the battery or topper. Any with 510/ego threading will work on your battery. As you found out over tightening will screw them up pdq.
After you start having issues with the battery post most of the time it will be something you have to fiddle with frequently.

My main problem is that I don't have another device, and the place I bought this one is an hour away. I think PBusardo is from my area, so if he gets anything locally there must be something closer, but I don't know about it.

It was definitely the clearomizer. I went into Upstate Vape, and they checked it out, found out the problem and set me up with a Kangertech Evod tank and (forgive me, but I forget what it's called) a part that I'll have to replace in about two weeks, for a total of about $10.

Michelle poured my e-liquid from my old tank into the new one, while her husband Josh let me try out several (amazing) flavors of fluid since I was having a nic fit. It seemed like they would have let me stay there for hours trying liquids, but I had to go because my wife was waiting in the car.

The Evod works incredibly well compared to the old clearomizer, with huge clouds of vapor I didn't think my device could manage. The throat hit on my fluid is a bit too harsh, but I liked one of the menthol liquids he let me test a lot, so I'll probably be getting it when I run out of the stuff I have now. His liquids were a lot better than the one I bought from RW Vapors (Red Box). It's a matter of personal taste, of course.

All in all, an awesome experience, and I will be going back when my analogs run out in a little over a month. I was buying them at a reservation, and stocking up for two months at a time. My budget for nicotine is spent for that time frame, or I would have bought a ton of liquids today. I wish I had known about this place sooner.

I'm sorry if I sound like a shill- It just feels like I joined a new religion or something :D

Welcome To ECF Scott- The harshness seems to fade once your liquid heats up a bit. The part you have to replace is the Clearomizer Replacement Head(is atomizer-where your coil and wick is). I just bought a 5 pack at http://www.ecblendflavors.com/clearomizer-replacement-head-kanger-evod-protank/ Glad you had a good experience at Upstate Vapes....Have fun with vaping!~ And as for liquids- there is better out there!

Please stop shorting the battery to test output. Will not take much to Blow the controller.
Ce4's are often junk. To many manufacturers copying the style and many having no QC standards.
They are considered Disposable anyway and no one warranties beyond DOA - which your almost was.

Don't worry over it, most of us have made similar mistakes along the way.
