My impatience got to me and I decided the waiting for dealextreme delivery was too much and decided to buy one of these maglights directly from CVS for $9.99 s i can get everything in place for my charger and battery delivery.

The flash light looks identical, except it has an Outback logo of some sorts on it.

The problem is that I cannot get the circuit out like you suggest with a socket. It seems to be sealed on, part of the casing?
The lens is held in with a beveled end.

Anyone else looked at these in CVS?

I wonder what the work around would be. They look the same as the hawaiian magnum.

Here is when you are going to have to be clever. From the description you provided, the circuit board would be removed toward the battery side, not the lens side of the top section. Fitting stuff from the bottom was more difficult than doing so from the top. Is there a silver 'retaining ring' holding your circuit board in place? If so, removing that ring should allow everything to fall out easily.

Yep there is definitley a retaining ring.
What would the trick be to get this off/out?

Thanks

Good luck getting it out intact. I pried mine out with a jeweler's screwdriver , X-acto knife with a no. 11 blade and a miniature needle-nose pliers. If you can keep it intact, that would be good. I pretty much mangled the crap out of mine and decided to use an internal retaining ring to hold it together. Of course, you would need a retaining ring pliers; another tool expenditure.

Try to keep your wires as short as possible as they like to poke out from under the circuit board when you try to assemble the completed unit.

Where could a resistor be added somewhere to lower the charge a bit so as not to BURN up atomizers? Or is that necessary???? What`s your luck so far with atomizer fries?

I did not use a resistor in my Magnums. Will you burn out a few atomizers while you learn to vape at higher-voltages? Yes you will.

A forum member posted this great mod to the circuit board to cut down on wires and to accommodate the resistor for the LED and a diode to slightly reduce voltage. It was several months ago, but below is the diagram. I do not remember who posted it.

Just wondering what is the best part to use for the battery connection of the atty to the flashlight? I have looked for all kinds of parts and was thinking since the 901 is actually a m8 thread that maybe some type of coax connector might work. Has anyone looked for a M8 type of battery connector yet? If so what has been found.

Mad dog Thanks for this incredible invention as it must be great...I am working on a cheaper version with a light from Dollar Tree and have my tactile button and led mounted. The nice thing about this light is the board already has the diode on it. I just need my battery connector for the atty and I will be ready to fire it up and see how it works. Right now it has 3 AAA's but I plan on converting to one 3.7 or the cr2's like you not sure yet. Let me know about the connection if you can...Thanks
Scott

I did this mod, it came out nice, however I was burning out atomizers like crazy. Don't know if its the way I vape or not, but I killed 3 attys in 2 days with this thing. The only things I did differently was I did not use an LED, perhaps Maddogs LED has some voltage drop across it? Also, for testing I used Duracell non rechargable CR2's, maybe that's why. I dunno, but it looked great, felt great in the hand, and had MONSTER throat hit. I've since gone to a 4AA 5V box mod instead.

Hey guys, I found these battery connectors on madvapes.com and i was wondering if they are good for these projects? This is supposed to be so you dont need to tear up your old batteries (Or for those of us who are impatient as hell, the new batteries.) and they are very inexpensive, only 1.70 $ or so. They also have atomizer connectors but i dont know what i'd do wth those. They have... 510, 901, 801 and 4081 compatible battery and atomizer connectors.

MadVapes LLC

This site actually has a bunch of really neat items. I'm definately plcing an order. And they also have some of those neat flashlights (a little different but i think would work for the magnum no problemo) in like 5 colors for 2 bucks a peice. They have resistors, switches/buttons, colorchanging LED's, batteryboxes and holders, ect

They also have these 10 dolar disposable 510 kits (they are NOT the Joye 510, but they ARE compatible with the Joye 510, so when the battery dies you have a useful atomizer) that come with rechargable batteries that are supposed to be not as long lasting as the ones you get in the big kits. Everyone i have heard get one of those rechargable 510 kits have said they have gotten at least 20-30 charges if not more for a desposable unit. Not bad. And when they are only quoted to lasting a handful of charges its even better. I mean, you can't really get an atomizer alone for that much after shipping. :shrugs:

So... i figured all of these things could be super useful for modding. Especially to that person who was asking about using a Coax cable head instead of a ripped up battery.

So, you guys think i should invest in these battery heads and see how they work?

Frankly, i think making your own mods are almost a better deal then buying most of these kits because you get better longevity and for people like me who live off a 660 dollar a month income its relitively inexpensive.

thanks!

Nikki

Well, i guess i'm just gonna make an order of a bit of everything. I'm a little unsure on what i aught to get but hopefully i'll do the right thing and get enough of the right stuff. Hehe.

I'm thinking about making one of the monster vappers out of a weller since it appears to be the easiest mod to do so far. that's my thought at any rate. I am also looking for the tutorial on the universal RCA adapter and see if i can do that too. hehe.

It's so fun! I'm all excited now :)

I've spent a week using a normal 901 atty where you can see a circle of mesh at the bottom, and a 901 atty where you see a washer at the bottom with the wick sticking out in the middle (new type). The washer type 901 atty seems to hold up better in that it doesn't get hot as fast, I can basically vape normally without the atty getting hot so fast, and the atty cools down faster as well. The vapor taste better. I got my attys at freedomsmokes. Makes a whole world of difference.

I'd be interested in a video too - and - can someone explain what "One Small chunck of 1/2 PVC Sch. 40 (Must be Sch. 40 - 600psi WILL NOT WORK )" is and where one might find some (apart from madog's toolbox ;))

schedule 40 PVC is plumbing pipe. the white plastic looking stuff at the hardware store. 1/2 inch is the size and schedule 40 refers to wall thickness. schedule 40 is the most common

This is very similare to the detonator mod although without the ugly jb weld on the end. I use one without the led and I switch between 2 cr2's and an 18650 for anyone who wants a battery that lasts all day then the 18650 would probably be the best choice. on a side note I notice my 510 atty gets hotter when I use the lower voltage batteries and I think this is because I end up taken a much shorter draw with the cr2's then with the 3.7 volt batts.
