My ecig evolution, a journey through time, share yours!

I'm not the type to keep around multiple types of ecigs that I use all the time. When I get a replacement, it's been thoroughly researched and that's what I use until I get the newest one I want, and I quit using the old ones. So this wouldn't really be a "show us all of your PVs" thread, or all the different ones you've tried. This is more of a what has been your primary PV of preference from begining to now. I'll start with mine to give you an idea.



There's a picture of my primary PV setups almost since I started. Not shown is the Chinese Ruyan 801 pen kit I started out with in 08, as I don't really count it as it didn't stop me from smoking, but instead turned me off to vaping. Back when he was pretty much the only person you could buy from, and us USA'ers were sooo worried about customs cause we didn't have any sellers in our country That was until the first picture, which is a kit I made myself. I started truely vaping with 2 900 ego mah batteries, and boge 510 cartomizers (this was before LR was around or popular). When LR cartos wasn't enough, I tried the ego booster. It was pretty awesome, though expensive, and not very well made at all. It worked great, just came apart way too easily. Due to this, and having already fallen in love with VV vaping, I switched to the VV ego knock off with the 5 click voltage changing. Used this mostly with the ego-W clearo, which for some reason was never popular at all, though it looked really really spiffy I think. I preferred the variation in voltages the booster gave me, and soon found that this knockoff battery didn't feel like it was any more powerful than a regular ego battery. So then, I switched to the twist. I shouldn't really count this, as it was only used for a few days before I broke it. But since I had been dreaming of it for weeks before I got it, I'll count it anyway It gave me the VV choices the booster did, and it actually reached the higher than a regular ego voltages, all in one package. GREAT for what it is. But once I killed it, I wanted something that wasn't so sensitive (and round that would roll off the table so easily), that was when I found the gripper. Only been a couple of weeks, but so far, I'm loving it!

So, that's been my personal journey through ecigs. Now that I've found the gripper to be pretty reliable (and it doesn't roll off tables), I'll be donating my old egos to my mom's BF who really needs to quit smoking. I'll keep the knockoff VV egos around as a backup, but as I mentioned, I don't ever find myself using any of my old devices once I have a new one. Am I the only one who does this?

I have never been looking for Vape Heaven, I've only been working towards reaching the point of satisfaction.
And that is a point I have reached a number of times, with each step forward that I take.

I don't really buy new stuff unless it has been proven over time, and I know it can improve my vaping experience.

I first reached a high level of satisfaction after 3 months of vaping, which required three things...
--Moved from an RN4081 atomizer to a standard Joye 510 atomizer
--Decided to ditch cartridges altogether and just drip
--Moved from a stick battery to 18650 battery

So I nearly reached complete satisfaction when I bought my first Chuck and was dripping with a 510 atomizer.


But I was not entirely satisfied, because my Chucks are too big to carry in my pants pocket.
So I needed a setup that I could use when I needed to maximize portability, like a day at Disneyland.

I again reached the point of satisfaction when I resolved the portability issue through the following steps...
--Found a juice (Dekang DK-TAB) that I could use all day after a 19 month long search
--Bought a Mini Reo after 23 months


Then my entire vaping world got a bit shaken up when I decided to try out the 4.8v NiMH batteries after 28 months.
These brought me to a higher level of satisfaction with my Chucks, but ruined my Mini Reo!

So after 30 months I bought a 650 mah Twist for my portability solution.
And I am now back to the required level of satisfaction.

I tried a gas station disposable first and the taste and the lack of battery life really did suck but for the couple of hours I did use it it showed me the viability of the concept. I did a bunch of research online and ended up buying a kit from V2. The flavors were much better and the rechargeable batteries and when my last pack of cigs was gone I decided not to buy anymore. A few rough days but the V2 saw me through them.

Like many tho I discovered I wanted more vapor and better flavors. A local brick and mortar store provided me with a wealth of flavors I had not even dreamed of and to this day root beer is still a primary vape for me. I also bought an eGo set from them and learned to love the big batteries.

Once again however I wanted more...the eGo was good but I wanted better and after reading many reviews I decided to take the plunge and buy a ProVari. This is still a go to mod for me and one I use everyday. It wears a green glass tank and is always filled with root beer juice. My favorite traveling mod is my Saber Touch with stacked 123's in it and while at home I drip the vast majority of the time with a 306 atty on my Kicked Silver Bullet. I have other mods as well...some are showy, some are workhorses but they all work to keep me cigarette free.

Funny how we've all ended up with mods (took me longer than most I'm sure). Except DC2, who went backwards from a mod there at the end Who knows, maybe the rest of us will someday too.

I traded a lariat for an original rough stack in the spring of 2010. Stopped smoking the same day.

In Jan 2011, I purchased a few standard 510s because they seemed interesting for whatever reason.

In March 2011 I bought some ego-t's and ego megas... and I started buying all sorts of mods (dozens throughout 2011). That's also around the time I bought a few CE2 MAP tanks.

Noteworthy in the buying spree of mods I went on was in May of 2011, I bought my first feeder from Old Goat. That led to me buying a bunch of other inexpensive feeders in 2011 and early this year (wet box - boge revolution - etc etc etc). I wasn't very fond of any of them but the old goat and traded them away quickly.

When my Old Goat feeder died on 11/17 of 2011, I bought a REO Mini.

Carto tanks began to appear and I bought a few. I still own one MAP DCT tank, but haven't used it in months.

On 1/19 of 2012, I ordered my VVPV. On 2/19 I received it... and had to have it worked on immediately... and got the one I'm using now on 3/19. It has been my primary PV since then.

On 4/28 2012, I bought my REO VV Woodville. It currently accounts for about 30% of my vaping. I plan to buy a REO VV Grand on 9/8

----> I left out a lot of details above including a few very noteworthy moments when I discovered regulated mods and my first VV mod, but this will end up being a novel if I wrote it all down. What got me to how I do most of my vaping today was that first Feeder from Ron.

That brings me to attys/cartos:

Started out with some no-name attys that came with the rough stack - found better ones online. Stuck with those for about a year until the ego-t and ego-mega.

Around the time the ego-t and ego mega came out, there was all sorts of debate about cartos on ECF. I decided to try a few. They were convenient, so I decided to try them all. I almost accomplished that goal. I never got around to trying the 808s that were around then... but I doubt I missed more than a couple of 510 cartos. I still use the ones I liked and have a bunch in my vaping inventory.

Dual coils came out. I spent months vaping 1.5 ohm dual coils with stacked batts, 4.8v ni-mh batts, and my 5.0v regulated mods. I rarely use a dual coil any more, but not because I don't like them.

Because I was using my feeders more and more and my tube mods less and less, I moved back to attys. I developed a real fondness for Cisco 306's and Cisco 510s. My REO mini most often has a Cisco 306 on it (though also often it has a boge 1.8 ohm carto)

I bought my first hh.357 when I bought my VVPV. That's all I use on it.

I bought my first i06 around the time I bought my REO VV Woodville. That's primarily what I use on it, but right this minute it has a dual coil atty on it because I just ran out of i06's when I popped a coil Monday.

I started with an eGo-T (don't laugh .. it worked) Had my last cigarette two day after I got it.
I quickly found out that cartos worked a lot better than the eGo-T atomizer.
My first "mod" was an epic fail, the 510-N deserves every bad review it ever got. Only took me a couple of days to figure out that even I could make a better PV, so I did. The first one I made cost about 5$. I still have it, and it still works.
Since then I went mod crazy, and have had almost every type made at one time or another. Seems like I was able to set every one of them up to provide the vape that I wanted.

I've quit using cartos for the time being because of the QC issues. I just haven't liked wading through the duds trying to find a good one. So I have been using stardusts and vivi novas instead. However my favorite vape is and probably always will be dripping a good ole 510 type atty when i'm just laying around the house.
