My ecig kit now and then

Since I'm new here I thought I'd share what I started with and where I'm at now with my vaping.

A few years back I started to see the ecigs at the malls, you know some guy standing there puffing on an ecig as you pass by wishing you could light up a smoke as he's smoking away on some electronic cigarette. I finally stop one day and listen to his selling points, all his blah, blah, blah and bs about how safe it is, it's gonna be the next big thing, how a package of five cartos is equal to a carton, and all the funds I'm gonna save. I didn't buy anything from the guy cause I couldn't get past the hundred he wanted for the kit and the additional expense of buying those cartos from him or their website. I soon forgot about him and figured I didn't care that much about it anyway.

So maybe a year or so goes by and I start seeing my local smoke shop selling ecig kits. We talk about it a bit, I look at them, think about it and then finally decide to buy the Smoking Everywhere kit for about $59 or so, which comes with two cig a like batteries, two atomizers, a wall charger, and five cartos all in a sleek looking box promising each carto is equal to a pack of smokes (seems to good to be true, which of course it is) and I figure at ten bucks for a box of five cartos that's a huge saving over regular cigs, even though I had no plans on quitting smoking anyway, lol. I buy it kind of excited, charge it up, and start using it. At this point I'm impressed because it does work however as we all now know the batteries don't last for crap and die fast, and of course the cartos don't even last half the day. I keep using it for a while I suppose out of novelty but then a few weeks later the batteries quit charging so I just dump the whole kit thinking the novelty has passed and its just another scam.

Some time passes and come across Blu disposables at Walgreens which are about $10 and longer then the previous ecig kit I tried, so I'm thinking longer battery and I just toss it when done (the selling point was the disposable was equal to about a pack and a half of smokes and uses high quality USA made juice), I pick one up and the thing taste great. I'm really liking this classic tobacco taste however as good as it is it becomes expensive quick, lasting only about a day at $10 each. I then decide to buy Blu's kit but I'm soon disappointed because like the previous kit I bought the battery charge just doesn't last and I'm going thru cartos very fast. I go back to buying Blu's disposables because they last longer, taste great, and I'm really only using it when I can't smoke not as a quit smoking device. I pick up a few of them here and there and while I am liking them the price is really starting to add up fast and I feel like I'm just wasting funds on these things.

The I see the eGo kits at my local smoke shop for about $50 or so, with two much bigger batteries, a decent charger, and most important I can fill the tanks myself with all kinds of flavors for about $5.00 for a 10ml bottle. This thing actually works it has two long lasting 650mah batteries and uses C4 tanks. I quickly learn to like it very much and begin sampling lots of flavors to decide what I like ( I will start another thread soon discussing my liquid choices) and of course don't like, lol.

So since then I've settled on using eGo C Twist 1100mah batteries and H2 2.0ml clearomizers (bottom coil), this is working great for me. I recently purchased a Ijoy FAA glass tank to try out and while it is a nice tank it's very bulky and I'm not finding a huge difference form the H2 clearomizers I'm using right now. I don't really have a interest in mods or mechs at the moment.

wellcome to ECF sub4me ... great post, nice to see you have something that is working well

I also started with a Blu kit last August and it told me I could quit smoking with vaping ... one year later, I just bought my 5th Provari (a blem on Provape's labour day sale) and I also DIY a few of my ADV eJuices (I never did find an ADV eLiquid after buying dozens of hopefuls).

Cheers

I am glad you have found a decent kit that works for you :)

I went through a similar journey, only difference being that my foray into the world of cig-a-likes only lasted a week before I realised they didn't cut the mustard (for me). Part of my dislike was that when using them on nights out they made every drink (alcoholic) taste so disgusting that I literally couldn't get 'merry'.

Are you going to try rebuilding your coil heads next? (That was my next step with Vivi Novas & Protank 2s before I moved on to Kayfuns, you will be astounded at what a difference it makes to the flavour and vapour production)

Oh, and welcome to the forum and all that jazz

Hey guys, I figure most of our beginnings are similar to some extent. Starting with what we found while at our favorite stores, searching the web, and a lot of trail and error.

Not so sure I will be looking into rebuilding my own coils and wicks, that's not really my thing. I'm using the H2 clearomizers now and the coils last about three weeks and cost about $2.00 to replace. I know it's much cheaper to do it yourself but I'm not really a technical build it yourself kind of guy.
