I woke up really early this morning anticipating the arrival of my Ego, like a child on christmas mourning I sat patiently in my lazy chair watching the Sat Mourning Hunting shows, while keeping a watchful eye out my front window for the mail man :)

Well it came and I was VERY eager to try this bad boy out. I ordered a EGO pass through with 2 E Power Dual Coil carts and One std 510 Cart. I filled it up w/ my fav juice (Dekang Energy Cow) And ICKK

I am getting this NASTY chemical taste, I thought well maybe its just this one, I loaded up the 510 and sure enough the same Nasty Chemical taste.

Did I do something wrong??

Before this I have had the madvapes 808D, RN4081, and a Mistic, I've never had this issue before. Any ideas?

Thx

Heyas Cavibird,

Not sure what to tell you. By carts, I take it you mean cartos, since you said one was a dual coil. If you're using a high vg content juice, it may not be wicking properly, and thereby singing the cartos. And once a carto is singed, it'll always taste that way, from what I've seen.

Atomizers come with PRIMER in them that tastes like machine oil (re the cart of you really mean cart)

How did you fill the carto and how much did you put in? And do you know the capacity of the carto? And which kind of dual coil carto is it? For some kinds I think people use a syringe to fill the bottom part then drip liquid to fill the top.

Your right It does taste like Machine Oil. (Should have know that, I was a Machinist by trade)

I pulled the rubber cap and dripped down the side. The SmokeTech Dual Coils hold 5mls, I just dropped until it started to pool up.

The 510 Carto is a Mad Vapes 510 2.5ohm Same here I pulled the tip and dripped into it at a angle 30 drops is what it held b4 starting to drip out the connector.

If this is the same kind I have, the ePower Mega Dual Coil Cartomizer, it REALLY holds a lot and you'll really want to let it sit for a little while after it pools at the top. There's what looks like about a half roll of toilet tissue in there! I filled until pooling (I didn't have a syringe at the time), let it sit about 10 minutes then repeated. Had to do this a few times, and now that is my favorite all-day cart.

Yeah that's not a good way to fill cartos.

You need to know the capacity of the carto. Juice dripping out the bottom how means nothing.

This is how I fill 1ml cartos but that 18 drops to start is per ml so that would be 36 for a 2ml carto, etc. You need to fill approximately to capacity with suitable juice, cleanup, then settle. For a reservoir carto the filling method would be different and settling would instead be just a wait for the wicks to bring the first liquid to the coils.

And I only use thin clear juices that flow and wick easily. In stuffing cartos I use PG w/ 20% or less VG (used to 30% which works but degraded my cartos faster than I liked). Reservoir stuff usually liked the thickness of 20-30% VG though thinner works (may leak more easily) and some thinner 50/50's may work. I avoid all juices that leave flavoring sediment behind (clogs cartos, gunks up attys).

NOTE - with bigger capacity stuffing cartos some people do use a syringe down the inner wall to fill the bottom to make sure the bottom gets wet. With thicker juices, people may use syringe or other method to make the juice go into the stuffing.

So this is for simple 1ml stuffing cartos but hopefully the concepts will help.

How I fill Vapor4Life KR8 cartos and Boge 510 cartos

With the carto off the battery... Pop out the soft cap with an unbent paperclip in the mouth hole, very careful not to catch stuffing or the wire loop.
Shake and open the eliquid

Fill
Hold a bit of tissue on the threaded end hole, tilt the carto, and add 18 drops per ml of capacity into the stuffing (Boges and most KR8 cartos are about 1ml).
Wait 15 seconds or so then see how many more drops the carto stuffing will soak in easily.

Cleanup
Clean up the threaded end, tilt open end down into tissue, puff into threaded end to clear air channel (Boges and the KR8 cartos I use have a defined center air channel and I want to see light through that) While the carto is still open end down, touch a soft bunch of tissue to the top of the stuffing to get the loose juice - this will help prevent leaks.

Settle (first fill only)
Cap and let it settle - I lay it on different sides for 15-20 minutes to make sure every bit of stuffing gets damp so I won't singe the carto. if you use thicker juice than me (I use 20% Vg or less) then you may need to wait much longer.

While vaping
While vaping, if the vapor gets a bit light or a bit dry or the carto is getting hotter than normal, I take the carto off the battery and add eliquid. Also, I use such light sediment-free juices, I can look at the stuffing and see if it needs juice because the stuffing goes back to near-white.

I often use a plastic or delrin drip tip as a mouthpiece on Boge and KR8 cartos (not to drip into since the juice would head for the central air channel). Easy to pop out to add juice.

I don't have the E-Power EMDCC, but I do have the Smok EMDCC cartos and some Vaping Zone EMDCC cartos, and I don't use a syringe. For first fill, I remove the mouthpiece and slowly drip 100 drops down the inside wall, while rotating the carto. I then wait 3 to 4 minutes and they're ready to go. Some will say to wait 20 to 30 minutes, but I don't.

Hope you didn't burn the filler because it wasn't wet enough.
