Ok so to introduce myself, I'm Ash, I'm a 21 year old salesman from Plymouth in England. (The place your great granddaddy sailed from!)

I started smoking at about 14 years old and have only ever stopped for periods of a few months at a time.
A few weeks ago I was in my local tobacco shop looking for some interesting flavoured baccy, and on the counter was a disposable e-cig (Gammuci) So I thought what the hell! give that a wizz, at least I can smoke it in the pub!
Turns out I enjoyed it so much it ran out before I even got to a pub! So I blindly went online and ordered a Gammuci Micro Starter kit, if the disposable one was so good, the "proper" one can't be bad right??

Wrong! (well in the most part!)
It arrived, looked amazing in the flashy box with all its bits. So I whacked it on charge. Few hours later I popped a cart on and gave it a nice, long, slow toke.....nothing, kept going until I was getting a burning throat and a wisp of vapour. WTF!! the disposable was awesome, loads of vapour, good, non-burny throat hit, but this was just poor.

So online I headed, read all the bad reviews and thought bugger I've got the worse one... then read about E-juice and how its made up, found out about PG and VG, so picked up a bottle of normal baking glycerine and dropped a little on the atty and some in the cart. At last! A big lush plume of vapour and a smooth hit. This with the mix of juice in the cart already was just about enough.

However, being me and always wanting the best, I went ahead and ordered a 510 from E-cigs.co.uk (AMAZING service btw!) with a bottle of their 1.4% like smoke e-liquid. I can now see what you all rave about so much! What a vape! So smooth, lovely hit and a really good nico hit.
I was still on 5-10 analogs with the gammuci, that's old news now. Vape all the way!

Has anyone got any recommendations as to my next steps? Such as should I bother with things like:
Cart Mods
Cartomizers
PCC's
Pass thru's
Voltage mods
Etc?

Many thanks and happy vaping !

Hello Kernowash & welcome to the forum & vaping:)

Lol, I think you must be one of the nearest vapers to me that I've come across on here :D

If you are happy with the 510, why not stick with it for now? Then maybe in a while when you have had time to check out other models etc, you will see something you would like to try?

If you are looking for a good passthru though, I can highly recommend a Garry Dibley one. No need for any batteries at all with it :)

Looks like he is currently out of stock though.

I've never used a pcc myself as they weren't available when I was still using generic e-cigs, but I should imagine that they are really useful. One of the cheapest places I've seen them is at Vapour Station :-

I now just use a GG Grant (saving up for a GG Transformer) & the Garry Dibly passthru.

Hello and welcome kernowash! Congrats on your new 510 and hopefully you are enjoying it as much as I do mine. I would certainly recommend the PTB cart mod. It is easy and IMO I find it to be the best so far. I love the PCC and would certainly recommend that along with a PT. And read, read, read, all the information here on ECF and lord knows there is alot of it! Good Luck and Happy Vaping!

Thank you all for your warm welcome and good advice! I've just done the PTB mod on one of my carts, will wait for a day of use tomorrow to pass judgement on that! But......*DrumRoll*........ FIRST SMOKE FREE DAY TODAY!

With the Gammuci I was using before, while I did cut down from 20 or so roll-ups, I was still sucking a few death-sticks a day.
Got my 510 this morning and despite spending half the day with my Dad who is a heavy smoker, and in the car with my best mate who smokes the same roll-ups I did, I wasn't tempted once!
Feel great!

Really want a PCC, a PT and some 0% juice next.
Only flaw I've noticed so far is batty life, but I haven't really set them yet, still a PCC would solve this to a certain extent. I seem to spend my life charging things, Stereo bluetooth headset, HTC hero and now my 510!
And the PT and 0% are just because I just can't stop vaping now! Enjoying the feeling SO much, more even than my shisha and I love the smoke on that.

I really must also recommend the 1.4% "like smoke" juice from E-cigs.co.uk. It smells like butterscotch angel delight (Kool whip in the US?) but vapes really smooth, with great TH, the the after taste of red skittles! However, it is not sickly at all. I used to smoke alot of flavoured tobacco, and hated really sweet flavours, but this is REALLY good.

Can't wait to get more flavours and kit haha! New addiction and hobby? I think so!

Being a salesman, my brain is now buzzing with ways to make a living off these things too, I love selling really good products that enthuse me, and I've sure found one with vaping!

Epic WIN all round I think

Peace and Vaping =]

Welcome! Actually, that would be my 11th Great Grandfather. :D

Good choice on the 510. That's the first ecig I ordered and the one I used to quit.

I would recommend picking up a couple of spare batteries and attys. If you spend a lot of time at your computer, a pass thru as well. If you're out of the office/out in town a lot, a PCC. I've tried some of the cart mods and either use the PTB or the original fiberfill depending on the brand of juice I'm using. I've also switched from the 510 carts to 901 carts because they fit tighter.

So... make sure you have spare parts, chargers for all situations and plenty of juice.

As for the voltage mods, make sure you're happy with the 510 before you toss too much money at upgrades. I've got a 510, 901 and 801. I like all three but they're all different.

The passthrough is an absolute MUST. I almost got the one with no battery, but I'm glad I got it with a battery instead. Of course it works beautifully while sitting behind the 'puter, but in a pinch if your other batteries are dead, you can unplug the passthrough, and the 320 mah battery contained within should allow hours of on-the-go vaping while the regular batteries charge! You may look weird with a long wire coming from your e-cig, but who cares. Anyone who has a computer should make a pt a top priority.

Your testimony is much like mine... rolled my own but wanted to quit, vaping has captivated me and I've been analog free for awhile now.

Tired of charging things, and my list is the same including the battery hogging HTC Hero!

Thinking of a pass through because I spend hours in front of my PC at night catching up on network served television shows (I rarely watch my favorite shows when they come on during the prime time). So why not a PT?

I just have 510's and nothing to compare it to, but like it. But now looking for the next model to acquire for the stable of PV's...

Loving the dialog.. and lastly, thanks for your post and all those that have contributed..
