Well, I finally did it. I received my 510 battery connectors and my LDO 5v 3amp regulator in the mail from madvapes. So, I got to work.
This mod is a "true" 5v unit due to the regulator. These regulators, along with a 470-Ohm 1/4 watt resistor, are fantastic. Mark, over at MadVapes helped me so much on how to use these regulators. I tried fresh (2) rcr123a batteries, registering at 6.76v, and some that I had been using for a while, registering at 6.12v, and both sets gave me a perfect 5v loaded through the atty.
The mod is made of everyday parts from Lowes. It is totally sealed because I'm horrible at overfilling the atty. It gives a great, heavy vape but with lots of taste that a 6v just doesn't give. The throat hit is wonderful... better that any analog I was use to for 38 years. I made it with a 510 connector because I have adapters for a 901 and 801. The 801 is my favorite because of the excess amount of vapor it produces and I don't have to fill the cart so often. (I don't like to drip... too much work). I was having so much fun, I made 3 of them, each a little different with different switches for the look.
I want to that everyone on this site that has helped me and put up with all the questions I had. I really want to thank Mark from MadVapes who spent so much time trading emails with me so I could get this right. Also, I want to thank my family for putting up with my little temper tantrums when things didn't go right. And my 7yr old son who wanted me to get involved in all of this because he didn't want to see his dad die from cigarettes.
I will never put down my Silver Bullet. I think it is a great mod, and a work of art. But I wanted a 5v and this really fits the bill.
Happy Vaping Everyone!
