Ok. 3 weeks ago, I bought a vision spinner and a aspire nautilus. Got it home, assembled, filled with durasmoke champagne.
Day 1, I didn't even realize there was air intake holes in the nautilus. I had the hole blocked. Besides Uber hard hits, it never missed a beat. Discovered the holes, then the vape became easy, and LOVED this thing.
Day 2 and 3, not a problem. Big hole, little hole, mainly second smallest. 3.3V, 4.8V, didn't matter. Thing performed flawlessly. Ran the tank DRY. Only when the juice was barely covering the bottom plastic gasket did it start to gurgle....oops.
Next day, refilled with a candy cane durasmoke. Flooded once or twice, lots of vapor though, didn't think anything of it. At the end of the week, it started to flood alot. I replaced the atty. Flooded immediately.
Checked the tank / too cap. Tight, no cracks. Tried another juice, (all 50/50 vg/pg), still flodds constantly.
(Btw, my replacement attys are the bvc coils) . Replaced new attys with old one. Still floods.
all orings in place. Sometimes the atty does stay in the chimney on disassembly though.
Mainly now it is flooded when I first pick it up (laying down or standing atty up). After a good hard pull or 2, it clears up. I can draw as hard as I want - suck my cheeks in - and it's fine. I can super light draw on it too, but the performance doesn't change.
If the tank gets below half, it starts to flood all the time. I can hold it vertical at all times, even drawing on it, and it will flood.
air hole setting does not affect performance at all.

What rookie mistake am I making.

This is a good cause for flooding. Hard draws pull more juice into the coil head, and will flood it. In vaping you have to take light-ish draws, especially in clearomizers. Try opening it up, cleaning the chimney, the drip tip, the atomizer base (where the head screws in). Pretty much all components except the coil head. Then vape by taking lighter draws and see how that goes.

ok. I get to this level (little more than half full) and it starts to gurgle. Regardless of how soft I draw. It does it when I pick it up after not using it for awhile. If I continue to draw softly, it continues to gurgle. If I pull hard, the gurgling goes away in a hit or two.

Although I do appreciate ANY advice, I believe I am going to lean towards a vacuum leak.

BUT, I am a bit confused by this theory. If lack of vacuum in therror tank is causing the issue, then why wouldn't it instantly flood after refilling it. When you screw the base on, you're creating a pressure inside the tank by screwing it on.

Just a thought. Could I take the top off the tank Ave attempt to seal it? Maybe a silicone, or RTV, or vasoline.

I don't get it. How can this product be sold to the end user, and some people can use then however they wish, and others need to modify habits or only use certain restriction holes.

When you first had the airflow blocked and put a huge vacuum on the tank there's a possibility you may have damaged the coil in some way. If it were me I would take it all apart, replace the coil and reassemble using a drop of juice on all O-rings then give it a try.

Personally I have not owned a Nautilus but I do have an Atlantis which basically uses the same coil design and have yet to have even a gurgle from it.

Ok, that may be an issue. I've been changing the coils / reinstalling the coil with the battery end still moist. I could see the juice creating a hydraulic lock when screwed down. I will try that.

I've been making sure the coil is screwed in tight, and yes sometimes it's near impossible to unscrew. Nothing a small plies can't make an easy job of. That could also indicate hydraulic pressure in the base too. So I will amend my ways with reassembly.

Update: I've been keeping the tank at least half full, and 99% of the time, there hasn't been any gurgling. Either way, I bought an aerotank as a back up, and that should arrive soon...I hope....

My kanger stuff usually doesn't flood unless I really hit it hard or try to vape when it's almost empty... my one emow though seems to be leaking a tiny amount of fluid from somewhere though... Everywhere I set them down it's on top of a paper towel and there's sometimes a little spot under one of them. Doesn't happen all the time. Just often enough to bug the .... out of me.
As for your nautilus... mine has been on the shelf for months because of non stop leaking and gurgling.
