The State of Confusion
Hey all...

Well I have gone to the Dark Side, or that the Bottom Side...LOL

This is my first BF, and BF rda....

Any suggestions are cheerfully welcomed!

Specifically anyone with some advice or suggestions on building the Cyclone.

I know this will sound REALLY lame but doesn't a rda BF build a bit different than a regular rda?

I will gladly pay you on Friday for some advice today........

Congratulations, I have three of the same so I like them. Cyclone with AFC 28 gauge and ribbon kanthal twisted with 5 wraps. None AFC 28 kanthal 6 to 7 wraps. About 2mm of the deck towards the outside and a whisp of cotton. Not much difference between non bf. I only run single coils on the AFC, just never got to into duals. Great flavor and vapor. If its not AFC you will need to open that air hole up.

I didn't change the way I did my builds when I went to BF atty's as I see no reason why the coil/wick build has to be different for a BF other than maybe the style/position of wick tails to keep the joose in/out area of the atty clear. Generally you don't want/need long wicks in a BF as that saves possibly heating joose that returns to the bottle, and fresh joose is just a quick squonk away.

FWIW I have two 2013 non AFC Cyclones. Since I am a long lung hitter both have their air intakes enlarged. One to 5/64, one to 7/64... like the 7/64 better, like big bore DT's better. Have only done single coil builds, but am thinking of adding a Cyclops so I can try double coils on one of them. The builds have been with 28ga and 26ga Kanthal, both single wire and twisted wire micro coils, mostly .5 to 1.2 ohm but also a 1.7 for one joose in particular, and with both KDG and RxW used for wicking. They have all worked great. The playing with builds only because I try to match the builds to the joose they will run for the best flavor. With 9 Reos now I am starting to dedicate each of the Reos to just one juice. I had actually stopped doing sub ohm after doing it for about a year with every crazy coil build and new wicking material that came along on my tube mechs and VV/VW mods. I had gone back to KISS on them, but since the Reos came along I have started to slip back into it a little.

I hear ya'!

I now have 6 Provari', a Hades, ZNA Lite, Z2 Granite and now finally a Reo!

I have different atty's on my Provari', all set to different voltages...my ZNA is for anything that's a power hog, 1ohm and above, of course my mechs are for any build at all..but I do have my favorites.

You are exactly right about builds to juice...taste may be subjective, but depending on the build it can change perceived flavor of the juice.

As far as sub-ohm, hey I do a build, check it, if I am using 28 or smaller it will usually be >1 ohm, if 26 or larger...<1ohm...I don't build much 24..."coat hangar" :p

Being a vaper for now over 5 years, I look for the lung hit first...gotta have a good lung hit, and flavor! :vapor:

I appreciate all the advice...I kinda figured that the builds didn't change much, but hey it never hurts to ask....

If you can hold out til Monday trying that bad boy out, you're more of a man than me. Virus and Wakonda are the only two juices that might be worth the wait, but I couldn't do it.

Congrats and welcome! Good looking acquisition!

Since nobody else has mentioned one of the effects of becoming a Reonaut, I'll clue you in... Be prepared to notice dust collecting on all your other mods. For some reason, REOs just have a way of gravitating to your grip before any other rig. I think it has to do with the porcupine faeries, but it's just speculation. Regardless, you'll be a happier Reonaut when ya get that thing in action. Until then, you should try to squeeze the last bit of enjoyment out of your other stuff before they are abandoned.

Question:

On your Cyclone do you have any difficulty in getting the ribbon to tighten down snug in the base?

After you have been a Reonaut for a little while, happily vaping away and scouring the site trying to decide what color combo to get for your second REO, you will look back on this time that you let it sit idle waiting for a specific juice and KICK YOURSELF for wasting that time when you had a REO right there in your hands. I say at least take it for a test spin. You wouldn't have to fill the bottle...just drip something in it....
