Hi there,

I'm working on building my first vape. I have friends who can help me in the long run, but I'm still very much a beginner so I just wanted to double check. Basically I don't want to go the starter kit route because I plan on expanding, but I don't think I'm quite ready to get into RBA/rda's. So for this I figured a clearomizer would be good to start me off, and then I can buy batteries and a mechanical mod that will last me longer. Here's what I have picked out:

i6 Clearomizer $3.05

Two 18650 batteries $10.85

Battery Charger $4.90 (Not a USB plug, literally just a rechargeable battery charger)

Panzer Clone Mechanical Mod $27.15

Is this good enough to get me started? Is the clearomizer compatible with this setup or do I need an RBA? I feel like I'm missing something. Thank you.

hmm, without the specs on charger and batteries, there is no fraking way that anyone can speculate on your choices. Even though you are not into rba's YET, batts and chargers are not the place to skimp on, and $10.85 for 2 batts and $4.90 for a charger, well, umm, yeah, probably NOT even close to the right chit for vape, and likely are like  much dangerous.

The Panzer is probably ok, depending on the clone maker and the qc quotient. :D but with the batts, will want 30 amp continuous, IMR high drain batts, and charger, need something with a volt meter, and quality, to monitor and ensure correct battery health. Xstar VP1, Nightcore, even the new Efest LUC V2 is pretty nice.

Far as clearomizer, may want something more like the Aspire Nautilus line, or something of that quality/style. Pretty out of touch with all the changeable attys, but there are some nice advancements that have occurred in the last year.

Hey man, I hang around my home town shop ( Knoxville Vapors) and have been vaping for some time. Anyways, That Panzer clone is a great move, everyone I have talked to that owned a panzer mod is happy with it. Also, I have tried it, and I was satisfied as well. I would make sure to get 2 Sony VTC4s or 5s as your 18650s. I would go with the Intellicharger as your charger.( Also, if you can spring for the 4 battery version, it would be a wise investment) Other than that, any clearomizer, etc, will work for starting out. To finish it off, I would try to get some kinda case; it does not have to be fancy, just something to protect your investment. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask, but that should be a spot on starting kit.

To be honest, if you would like to start building coils, it is not that hard to make a starting coil. Also, a lot of atomizers come with pre-made coils and the little screwdriver that is good for making coils. Cotton and a spool of wire are not that expensive either. I am not pressuring you though, just get what you think you would want. ( btw, yea sorry, Susan is right there)

P.S. (Forgot to mention) If you do end up building your own coils, you are gonna want a digital ohm meter at the very least.

Skip the mechanical mod. You will be stuck vaping at 4.2v with performance diminishing as the battery drains. Get yourself a great variable v/w devise and pair it with a mini Nautillus, mini Aerotank or regular size Aerotank (all made of glass).

Hmm, well from a beginning intro into vape, a regulated would be the safer, smarter way to get into it, what with the advanced high amp regulated mods that are hitting the market, makes for a great style of vape.

Though as an somewhat experienced vaper, must say, really, really love my mechs, the simplicity and quality just cannot be matched by any regulated device. There's just something about the fool proof simplicity of a mech, that I simply love. Never have to worry about shorting a circuit, due to juice leakage, long as there is juice in the batt & atty, it will always vape, and I can dial in the perfect vape by the build made.

Worst part about mechs, well, the vaper is the only safety mechanism that is in the vape loop, and relies heavily on knowledge, skills and diligent vape maintenance, to work properly and safely.

I love all things vape, from mech, high amp regulated, rba's, and DIY juice. The ability to customize and fine tune every step of the vape process is what makes vape so exciting to me.

Currently am using more mechs than regulated, but then am waiting on a couple 100 watt capable box mods to arrive or be upgraded. My dna30 devices don't get much use, unless me build is to high, and I need the 30 to get to 30. or something like that.

Vape long and acquire Prosper.!!!

Wow thanks for all the advice everyone. Let me add a bit more information.
As far as E-Juice goes my friends make their own, so I'll have no problem getting that.
The batteries are Sony I tried to hyperlink all my items listed but unfortunately I can't post links :( They are Sony US18650VTC3 18650 1600mAh 3.7V Rechargeable Li-ion Batteries (2-Pack)

And the charger is a wall charger for rechargeable 18650 batteries that I found on Amazon. I feel both items are safe, however for about $12 I can get the NiteCore IntelliCharger i2 Charger which seems to offer more features.

I've looked into the regulated mods and they are appealing, but I asked my friend and he said they're for babies lol. Also I've taken electronics and have a multimeter so I feel pretty confident in my ability to not electrocute myself or create a pipe bomb lol.

Ah ok, yea that is the intellicharger I was talking about. Been using it for as long as I can remember. That is good, I am in the same boat as I go to College for IT. lol Also, thumbs up on the multimeter. Those Sonys will be perfect. The VTC4 and 5's higher mAh honestly only make them last alittle longer.( sorry if you already knew that) Other than that, yea, honestly I would just get a good atomizer and build your own coil then. I recommend looking at some atty reviews, as they will usually list the pros and cons of the atty.

I agree with the NiteCore but you might was to spring for the 4 bay charger as in the long run you will be switching out a lot of batteries. Your friend is leading you astray running a clearomizer off of the panzer-there is no way to change the voltage on your battery so you will be stuck not getting the most out of it. If I was going that direction a rebuildable tank might be a better option-nothing too assertive on the build but you will have more control and they are pretty easy to work with. As was said earlier in my opinion and it comes built in with a grain of salt-the Nautilus on a vv would hit harder than an i6 on a panzer as you can push the power on a vv a little. The Vamo 4-5 runs under 40 and will do the trick. As far as mech mods and tanks-a kraken or kayfun lite plus might be a little more fun. Amazon has sony vtc4s (2100 mah) on prime at 2 for 12 as I recall-
As a side note if you do start building the 510 connect ohm meter will be a super useful tool for around ten bucks super easy to deal with

Yeah I totally plan on getting into a rebuildable tank. It's just I'd like to take this process step by step, and the clearomizer I picked is just $3 and is enough to get me started. Once I know I'm really in for the long haul I'll buy an RBA and start making my own wicks, etc. I just wanted to make sure that the items I had picked out will get me through my first hit without blowing up in my hand lol.

Definately go with the nitecore over the noname charger. Ill recommend the vtc4s the 5s are a bit harder to come by right now and cost a few bucks more. The vtc4s will be the safest for you. Regulated mods are not for babies with mods being able to put out 100watts + Your friend has probably watched too many youtube videos. I prefer mechs but thats just me. I dont however thing either is better than the other. They both have advantages and disadvantages. If you end up with a panzer clone, I will warn you to pay attention to the positive contact pin, it will back out and when you screw your mod together it will start to autofire on you. This happens every so often and is not uncommon. Get an ohm reader or a digital multimeter at the least.

There are "verified battery" retailers on the bay, and do use 2 of them. And have always received authentic batts from both. Far as chargers go, yeah, definitely 4 bays is nice, but make sure it also will charge 26650's, ya never know, and a usb charge port is nice, hey, may want to get one of those high amp box mods down the road, and is handy for other usb chargeable devices. That way when traveling only have to take one charger to power all.

Feel real time volt meters are a must, gives one a better idea how much they are draining batts, and helps in monitoring batt health. Also make sure it comes with a dc power cord. Most all the quality chargers do. Chargers are not an area to skimp on, sure, find the best price you can on the model chosen, but invest in quality. Talking years of service, so saving $20 to skimp by is not a valid excuse, and will likely have to be replaced sooner than later, and end up more costly all around.
