My First Completed Mod (crappy cell pics)

Built in a 2x C battery box. Uses an 18500 battery, and fits a 10ml bottle in it. The top fed juice feeder is nothing more than tubing from a dead stick lighter. The cartridge also has a hole drilled straight through the mouthpiece to allow better ventilation (it makes a HUGE difference). Nothing real special here, I'm just proud of actually building something that works... except for the LED... that doesn't work

looking good! now find out why the LED isn't working. neither one of em does? maybe its not making contact to the positive wire?

Looks good Jiff! Congrats, play around with the led. I think (trying to remember...) once I had the same problem and the only problem was that I was using the pos and neg backwards, the atty worked but not the led's. I can't tell from the pics on yours.

Yeah to be honest I am a little lost on why the LED doesn't work... Since solder conducts elecricity (right?) as long as I had the resistors twisted around the switch legs with the positive wires, it should work? The ground leg (center one, right???) is soldered to the back of the negative battery connector.... Soooo yeah, I have NO idea why it doesn't work... And ripping it out to re-do it is out... My newbie soldering skills saw to it that I would never get things out of there without destroying everything else with it.

Honestly, it doesn't bother me too much that LED doesn't work. I was so thrilled the unit itself worked yesterday when I popped the batt in.

I'll end up making a new one though, making sure the LED works, and making sure I keep it a bit cleaner (especially with the solder).

I gave up om led's when I did my first mod but trust me...when you get it to work, it's a whole new mod!

on my JB i used 2 needles 18 gauge. one with the negative wire the other with the resistor on it. so i cut my LEDS and stick each apposite leg inside each needle (so its removable LEDS).
maybe you switched the pos and negative on yours?

leds have a negative and positive if they are reverse they wont work. id check that

This was a dual color LED and to my understanding on dual color LED's the center leg is the negative. Is this correct or did I hear wrong?

dont know, man! but if you're out of LEDs i'd leave as is. go place another order, you need more parts!

the two outside post on mine is the neg. side. the center to pos. I put a resistor on both the neg. post and mine works fine.

It's what I intended to do, actually. Tomorrow when cash hits my account I'll be ordering more parts and building a better box. Less solder, working LED, possibly corner positioned atty... Might try to think of something unique to add to it... If I can think of something no one else has yet (not likely).

Could you elaborate? One of the outside legs is neg? Or both? The center is the ONLY positive?
