My first Desert ship recipie!

Ok im rather new at creating my own juices. With that being said i also started my vaping crusade away from smokes with the fruity flavors, mango, apple, pineapple, etc... On account i found the tobacco flavors horrid.. But after about six months of vaping the owner of a local e-vape shop had me try Red and White by High Caliber. And surprisingly i liked it a lot. At the time i had been mixing my own liquids for a few months so he didnt get to sell me bottle lol. But he did inspire me to create my own mix. Which i went to my go to shop and ordered tobacco flavors right away lol. And to my surprise the very first tobacco mix i created is now my ADV and i find delicious and would love to hear what others think. And also would love some recipies based on tobacco flavors as well just to see what i have been missing lol.
I use the eliquid recipie manager lite(android) for my calculations. My pg values are 47 drops per ml, and vg are 30 drops per ml. I use 60mg nic pg base, and dilute down to 20mg in final product. Also 3% distilled water counting as a part of vg, At 60/40 pg/vg.

"DESERT BLACK"
Flavors:
(FA)Perique Black=1%
(FA)Desert ship=1.5%
(FA)MTS Vape Wizard=1.5%
(TFA)Caramel (origninal)=4%

The flavor is kinda hard to describe, almost like a fresh pack of smokes that had one burned but taken out and then dropped in caramel bliss lol.
Oh and i never have got to let it steep lol.. Its delicious right away! Enjoy!
But yeah thats my 2 cents, hope im not taking anyones glory as well, if so im sorry, its a big forum and i havent had time to look lol Constructive criticism is welcome as well as alternative suggestions to this take. thanks

Congratulations on finding a good recipe that you enjoy. It looks like something I'd enjoy as well and makes me wish I had the FA flavors to give it a try.

As far as other recipes go, a lot of folks enjoy the Ry4 type mixes. The basic ingredients are tobacco, vanilla, and caramel. If you have a vanilla flavor, you could give that a try. There's a huge thread on the flavor here...just search for 'ry4 roundup' and it should pop up.

Thanks Yeah I've been curious about the RY's although i haven't purchased any quite yet lol. The only tobacco flavors i have in my arsenal as of now are
(fa) desert ship,
(fa) perique black,
(fa) shade,
(tfa) black honey,
(Chinese tobacco blends) usa type original.
And i have some (fa) black fire on the way.. lol. The only ones I've even messed with were my desert black recipe and the shade flavors. Shade was ok ill fruity though. It was nice but not an all dayer lol.. but I'll definitely check out the Ry4 threads

I make TFA RY4 Double 8% with 1 drop of AP per 5ml. I think it's pretty good. I also sometime add 2-3% Caramel and 2% Vanilla Swirl to it for a tasty treat.

How is that AP? I've seen a lot of people use it in their recipes. But never had the urge to purchase it. Does it make much of a difference?

I like it a lot. In smaller amounts 1-2 drops per 5ml it adds a nutty taste to my taste buds. Be careful though because if you overdue it, to me it tastes like burnt corn chips. I wouldn't be without it for the RY4D mix.

Acetyl Pyrazine

It's a main stay in most dyi arsinals. Gives a mix a distinct nuttyness. use at 1 - 2%. Used mainly in tobacco mixes but can be used in any mix where a nuttyness is desired.

If you are just trying tobaccos, I think you are off to a good start.

I think probably most people that do tobaccos well have a sort of "boilerplate" mix of a few essential ingredients and then rotate various tobacco and small amounts of other notes in and out of a pretty standard basic "premix".

Caramel (IMO) is essential to tobacco juices. Cigs have buttloads of brown sugar added, the heat of burning caramelizes that. Attys don't get that hot, so Caramel flavor provides directly to an ejuice the same major flavor component that the brown sugar indirectly provides to an analog.

~4% on caramel is about spot on for many tobaccos. It also adds sweetness and some "wetness" so if I want harsher/dryer I may go down to 2% or sweeter/wetter as high as 6%. But 4% is pretty much almost standard for me, so that's a good start.

Vape Wizard - I usually go about 1% on this but the 1.5% is fine too, I cannot really tell much difference.

So you alrady have two of IMO the 3 essential "boiler plate" stocks for a tobacco juice, and good calls on the addition rate.

I personally think Ethyl Maltol is also essential. I don't get that much sweet or cotton candy that many ascribe to it myself. To me it is more of a smoothing/body building component. If you are getting the 10% stuff (I make my own at 5% from crystal) I suggest rates in the 1-3% range.

So my "stock" essential tobacco building block premix would be something like:

4% Caramel
1% Vape Wizard
2% EM 10%

then I build up all my tobacco recipes with something that usually starts (more or less) like that.

I found the TFA Caramel was a little unpleasant, will use it but really prefer FA Caramel Original.

I've never cared for any tobaccos that have any sort of pepper notes. If you like the Perique, great, not for me. Shade is mehh, and has a little pepper. I pretty much retired it.

If you are into FA flavors I would suggest you try getting Dark Vapure and maybe Latakia (although to me it may have a little pepper too, but you seem to like that so) and see what you think.

All my mixes are much higher on tobacco - tobacco flavors I'm always up around 6-8%. At that level FA Desert Ship is way too perfumey, but I sometimes use FA Desert Ship at 1% not for tobacco flavor but because 1% FA Desert Ship will give you an unmistakeable "ashtray" note so you get some analog feel.

Here's a simple one with a little less tobacco than my usual more in line with your amounts and pretty close to the one you just made in style (although you would have to get some more flavors) that I think has a good strong flavor without any weirdness:

FA Dark Vapure: 3%
FA Desert Ship: 1%

Ethyl Maltol 10% 2%
Caramel (TFA or FA) 4%
FA Vape Wizard 1.5%

But for a first DIY tobacco 4% Caramel, 1.5% VW, and "some brown tobacco flavors" you are definitely starting in a good direction. ;-)

I think 1% of the 5% Acetyl Pyrazine is heavy, and 2% WAY heavy for me personally.

I used to do 1% as standard, now I am pretty much topped out at 0.5% of the 5% AP (or just basically AP as many of us refer to it since it is as far as I know always 5%) and sometimes less than that.

thanks bud i may have to try that out! and thanks for the support much appreciated. yeah not to sure what i really like in tobacco flavors yet as i am quite new to them. but i do know i find my desert black very tasty! lol i still cant put it down lol. but ill definitely check out the dark vapure and maybe get some EM as well . although my wifes getting annoyed at my constant purchasing of equipment and flavors but i just tell her its still cheaper and better for me than smokes lol

on a side note, i did infact make a few sample flavors with the (ct) usa mix, and another with the (tfa) black honey with the similar base as to my desert black recipie. the usa was closer to an analog but much dryer and almost haylike flavors. didnt care much for it. black honey i used the same base but added a little (fa) expresso in the mix and it came out quite nice if your a fan of Black and Mild cigars not quite as sweet as an analog Black and mild but nice.. anyway thats my 2 cents and opinion on flavor for anyone who was curious lol
