My first E-cig experience (Model M401)

Hello everyone!

I got my 401 in the mail last Thursday, but I've been holding off on posting until I could get a better grip on what I wanted to say and to give myself the time to learn how to use this thing.

I began with a few tentative puffs about 1:15 am Friday morning, March 27. My inital thoughts were, "Oh my God! This thing really works!". Needless to say I was delighted.

My brother came home from work about two hours later. He of course wanted to try my new toy. He was equally astonished. Then he asked me, "How long has it been since you've had a "real" cigarette?". I looked at him puzzled by the question. Then I realized I had gone 2 hours without even thinking about an analog. LOL

My first few days haven't been easy. The first 24-48 hours was spent learning how to vape and not suck out juice. Now after 72+ hours, I'm vaping like I've done it all my life.

FOR OTHER NEWBIES: Just because you consider yourself a "heavy" smoker, pay attention to what you are smoking, eg. non-filters, regulars, lights, ultra lights, etc.

I considered myself a heavy smoker because I smoked 2 packs a day for several years. However, I smoked two packs a day of "ultra light" cigs. I ordered some Apple carts in 18 mg and some Peach juice in 16 mg. Both of these caused a tremendous throat hit and made me buzz after a few puffs. A trip to the hobby store (cake making section) for some glycerin and flavoring and I'm back on board. I simply diluted the juice a bit and I can now puff away without the major throat hit OR feeling all jittery from the nic buzz.

My suggestions for beginners ( no matter what model):

Be patient and persistant. It doesn't come easily, but you WILL get the hang of it.

Don't bother with the pre-filled carts. Order "blank" carts and Juice: one in a semi high mg and another (the same flavor) in a zero nic. Than dilute them together to get the nic level you need. With them both being the same flavor, you can dilute to your hearts content and not lose flavor.

I'm not completely an official "non-smoker" yet, but I've drastically cut down. From 2 packs a day I'm down to just a handfull 2-5 smokes a day. Unbelievable!

Hey, I'm a Missourian!

I've been vaping for about three weeks now and can't believe how easy it's been not to smoke analogs. The only time I've gone near them is when I ran low on pre-filled carts. I've since gotten the liquid and will soon pick up some glycerin as well.

Glad to see more people joining the vaping ranks every day!

Thanks for the first hand account. I hope mine's in the mail box.
I've seen a good number of Missourian's on the board. Can't remember them all. We need a 'pin" map for people to mark their locations if they feel they want to.

Well welcome my fellow Missourian! What part are you from? I'm around the Springfield area.

Ed: Nice website. Pongo looks adorable, although a little devilish. :)

Treece: I saw you post before. What area of Missouri are you in?

Julie: Yes, I guess this IS the Missouri gatherin' place.

Ramblin: Thanks for the reply. There are a bunch of us all over the place. :)

Does anyone know how we set up a forum for the Missouri folks?

Good idea . . . I'd probably even be willing to let some Fighting Illini join in seeing as they're just across the river. ;)

How is this? We don't want to make it too exclusive.

Ok. I joined. Now what? :)

Hey, Treece--I'm in Wildwood. Not exactly next-door neighbors, but close enough. I've got a frightening array of e-cigs and liquids if you want to test drive anything before you make your next purchase. (And when I say "frightening," I do mean it . . . Dura-C, Kissbox, Screwdriver, PureSmoker DSE901, PureSmoker Pilot, PureSmoker penstyle, and e-SmokeyTreats penstyle.)

Thanks for the offer, JustJulie. I'm beyond impressed with your "array"! Which do you like best? I'm thinking about the DSE901....

Seriously, PM me and we'll set up a time for you to make the trek to Wildwood, maybe meet at Starbucks, and I'll let you try all of the tools in my arsenal. I'll even bring a pile of liquids, and we can look like drug dealers. :D

My favorites are the Dura-C and the Screwdriver. (My Screwdriver is having a small problem, and a new one is on its way from Trog . . . due to arrive in about 1 1/2 weeks if all goes well.)

ETA: Forgot to mention that the DSE is an awesome e-cig . . . old reliable. It's generally what most folks recommend to beginner e-smokers, but it's not necessarily an e-cig that you love then leave . . . . I still use it several times a week. :)

I still don't even have my order yet. But I've been studying pretty hard. The screwdriver looks pretty cool. At first glance I thought it was massive, but I'm not sure if I want to be seen with a screwdriver in my mouth.8-o Maybe at home. It's a lot more than I want to spend as I have already spent enough!

2 M401's on order, couple of Johnson creek juice, 36 mg un-flavored juice, flavorings from LorAnns.

I had thought the Screwdriver was pretty big, but it's really not . . . it's actually shorter than my penstyle. I was also a bit worried about going out in public with it . . . not terribly ladylike to suck on a screwdriver. :) But it's small enough that the barrel is pretty much hidden by my hand, and it attracted no more attention than my penstyle. :)

But, yeah, the money sure adds up quickly when you start buying different models. I'm pretty satisfied with what I've got at this point, thank goodness.

Strangly enough, I think my Screwdriver may actually wind up to be one of my less expensive purchases, all things considered. The batteries are nonproprietary and dirt cheap (like $2 each), and the atomizers are just basic atomizers that you can pick up in bulk from China for $6 each. Not bad.
