Hello! I'm 32yo and have been smoking about a pack a day for half my life. I've tried quitting many times and can't usually last more than a few days. I (finally!) got my Blu Cig in the mail today. I wasn't sure which to get, there are waaay too many e-cigs out there, so I went with a well know relatively cheap one. Well, I'm not 100% happy with it, mostly with the flavor and I wish it had a little more vapor. So now I come to you guys! ;) I've been reading and reading the forum for days and I'm still not sure what I want to do. Do I want a new e-cig? Do I want to fill my liquid? Do I want to make my own liquid? I'm so confused! I basically want an e-cig that is close to analog as I can get, and if I can add some watermelon liquid every so often that would be cool too. ;) Thanks!

Welcome and Oh man another Blu Blues. It got you here so at least it was money well spent and you are asking the right questions. I know I had something similar when starting out and it had the same faults. I was looking for somthing to match a real cig. ended up w/a joy 510 then an eGo and now a mod. There are many options and you should watch Mistress Nomads nood vids.

IMO refilling your carts/cartos is the only option. Its much cheaper, the flavors available to you in juice are unbelievable, and if you care about being "green" you can reuse carts a billion times before throwing away (unless you chew them up like some of us). Oh, and Jolly Rancher Watermelon from strictlyejuice.com is dead on perfect. Congratulations and welcome to the family!

I was lost when I first started Vaping. It can be very very overwhelming even going on a forum. I think most ppl would say firstly that maybe a bigger longer lasting battery. I would normally get not even two hours usage on a small battery.

I'm sure you've seen a lot of wierd moda/big batteries and if you like me when I first started Vaping, I never would have wanted to walk around with something bigger than my hand.

If u are looking for good vapor and more throat hit I would suggest the 510 model or the 306 type. These are just the atomizers but you can find batteries that will last you all day too that are pretty small(like a cigar size).

come and join me on elixirtv as well as other great hosts.

OMG I have to try that! ;)

So a MOD is when you buy all the parts separate to make you e-cig more customized? I'm not sure I'm ready for that. I would like a longer lasting battery though. I've only had this thing to a half a day and on my third battery charge! Where is the best place to buy the hardware online? Oh and does anyone sell PV's in stores besides those mall kiosks? Like a smoke shop or something?

Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510 Right now these guys have Riva kits for $29.99 plus $2.99 shipping. That's a really, really great price for a Riva....which is a 510 with the bigger (lasts 6 plus hours on a charge) battery. The battery is about the size of a cigar, or a regular AA battery. It's not so much like a real cigarette, but in about a split second you're going to get over the need for it to look like a real cig and figure out you need for it to work. And the Riva is a workhorse. Then get some yummy juices and you're in! I think you can send your Blu back if you find the performance just isn't cutting it. And a MOD is not necessarily a do-it-yourself job. There are mods made by various people/companies, and it's what many of the veteran vapers have evolved into using. They're pretty slick, but I cut my vaping teeth on a Riva and an eGo (same basic thing) and it's a very good place to start.

Jen not sure how far away you are from Castleton VT but Vermont Vapors has a really cool store there and you can try out some hardware and juice. Their prices are fair and their juice is really good. They will let you to sample juice too. I have visited twice.

Do I want a new e-cig?

Yes. You desperately need an Ego. (can you tell I'm a fanboy? :>) )Check Liberty Flights. At 20 percent off, their regular price on an Ego is just a few dollars more than their best price. The kit they sell is super nice with two cones and two button protectors.
Do I want to fill my liquid?

Yes unless you have money and absolutely no time to do so. Buying pre filled carts and cartos gets very expensive very quick. Also, a side beni to refilling is much better tasting juice.
Do I want to make my own liquid?

Maybe, but if you watch for sales, buying from vendors isn't terribly expensive. Pick up some small sizes first tho. It's more expensive to do it that way, but you'll need to learn what you like before ordering the bigger sizes.
I basically want an e-cig that is close to analog as I can get, and if I can add some watermelon liquid every so often that would be cool too. ;) Thanks!

If you can switch to the bigger units you'll be miles ahead (Ego, Riva). Most folks can, some folks don't want to. As far as vapor production and taste goes, I think you'll find taste more related to the juice than to the amount of vapor. If you go with a manual battery, you can control the heat of the vape with the button. I have a few tobacco flavors that I really like at relatively cool temps, but they turn to yuck if I stay on the button too long. lol.

The vids from MistressNomad mentioned above have some great info in them. Hope this helps. Later. JD :vapor:

Urg! I wished I have watched the vids before I bought! Not a smooth move for a researcher. ;)

Thanks!

I personally think the eGo is the way to go if you are open minded enough to purchase an e-cig that is only slightly larger than a cigarette. There are a thousand reasons for this, but I've summed it up nicely for newbs in my article here: What Is The Best E-Cig? | eCigology. Hopefully this helps with making you a happy vaper!

Welcome!
My thoughts to you is read some more, watch more videos and learn, learn, learn.
And be open minded, not to have your vaporizer "look" like a real cig.
I bought a ProVape for my first model. LOVE IT! (does not look like a analog at all)
I thought just 2 weeks ago, that I needed to have a 2nd unit for a more "visually appealing" model for public use.
Now.....
I am going to make my second unit and bottom feeder mod!
So, read, watch and learn.
And Congrats on finding your way here. It is a great place to learn and get some advice.

I got a Riva instead of the Ego (they are practically the same) & I love it. The main difference for me was the price, the Riva cost less & is just as sturdy & reliable.
Ego & Riva parts are interchangeable also.
I got the 1100maH model Riva, which has longer lasting batts than the 650maH Riva/Ego's but isn't much bigger in size.

Now all I need is a tank mod or some Giantomizer cartos(when they come out in mid Feb) & i'll be set for worry/hassle free vaping.

Which Blu is it? Is the the old 3-piece Blu (the one just about all the comments on this board are about) or the brand new 2-piece one? We don't know much yet about the 2-piece one.

And here is something you should read - the two most popular starting basic ecigs here are the Joye 510 and the KR808D-1 (aka Vapor King at Vapor4Life.com) - this article compares them
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...st-electronic-cigarette-first-time-vaper.html

there are also fat battery versions of each of those that are probably better for heavy smokers and anyone who needs longer battery life. The fat battery models give 6-8 hours battery life as well as the option to use more powerful LR (low resistance) parts. The most common fat battery 10's are Ego and Riva 510. The fat battery KR808D-1 is the Elegant Easy from Cig Easy. 510's have the most options including a larger variety of blank cartomizers and of course atomizers which are not used by the KR8. The KR8 is a 2-piece model if you think cartomizers are what you want. if you don't knwo what I am talking about then check out the multi-part illustrated guide here - Wonderful World of Vaping:

Welcome to the forum...sorry to hear you started with the blu...i personally only use mods because of the non proprietary batteries, but if you wnant to stick to the analog look maybe you can get a good kr 808 with an automatic battery as your "outside" social smoker and such unit, and possibly a larger mod or passthru for the house so you can save battery life on the smaller 808 batteries, you can look at the notcigs infinity which came out, I don't want to confuse you with variable voltage and everything off the bat, just read the forums, ask questions, and see what fits your needs. Sometimes an eGo isn't the end all device even though that is what many of us myself included started with

I must say the best way to go is the EGO, however Totally Wicked just released the Tornado-Tank. Basically an EGO with a very clever delivery system that takes away all the fuss. I started with BLU 2 years ago and have been using the EGO/TORNADO for a year now and this tank system just blu me away. Companies are scrambling to get this one and it is the next big thing in the industry. I love it but I sure wish it came out sooner, could have saved a fortune.

You guys all missed it. You are replying to a vendor and everybody thought it was just a noob.

BTW- I'm using an 1100mah Super Ego w/ a TW Tank and TW Tank atty. Anybody using an Ego now should definitely get the tank for it!
