So i've been vaping for 4 days now and I'm loving it. i want to get one for my father!!!
I have no idea what to get for him, because I'm pretty sure he's need are much different than that of mine.
i doubt he wants to get off the analogs, but I feel it's necessary. He smokes atleast 2 PAD, he's been smoking for atleast 22+ years and goes into nic fits after an hour of not smoking. I'm sure he'd want the TH and the most natural/easy e-cig. I don't know a whole lot about the different e-cigs, so if there's technical terms used, could they also be simplified.
E-cigs are great. 4 days strong!
While
we as a community agree that your dad needs to get off analogs,
HE may not be of the same opinion.
I certainly had absolutely
no intention of
ever quitting smoking. I
WAS the female version of your dad. I knew the risks, the effects and all the health concerns, but I accepted them.
Something is going to kill me. Everyone in my family dies from cancer. Smoking is the only vice I have left . . . , etc. Comments about quitting from friends, family, co-workers only made me dig my heels in deeper . . . and I smoked many more years than your dad. Approach this incorrectly, and you will be disappointed . . .
1. Your success will make him pleased-proud-intrigued-interested. Definite plus for your ultimate goal. Let him know how happy
you are, how good the product is for
you, how easy it is for
you to use it, how interesting the flavors are, how many options in equipment and juice there are that
you can't wait to try.
GET HIM EXCITED FOR YOU.
2.
DO NOT TELL HIM HE SHOULD OR NEEDS TO QUIT SMOKING!! I cannot stress this enough. He knows it. He feels guilty about it every day. He doesn't need to hear it from you. He's the parent.
YOU WILL LOSE HIM IF YOU SAY THIS.
3. Once you have planted the seed of your success and he has had a little time to digest the concept, gently suggest that an e-cig
might be something that he could
consider having on hand for those times when he
can't escape to have a real cig. Let him know that it's a more realistic substitution for the real thing than gum or patches. Again,
do not suggest he should quit. Just offer him the idea of something that will help him through those patches that all smokers internally panic over-whether we admit it to others or not.

Something to use when it's way too cold to be freezing his .... off outside. . . (yes, I almost said something else)
4. Do not be surprised, and do not get argumentative, if he discounts the idea. You are simiply planting the seed. Maybe offer a toot on your device, but do not insist. Let him come over to the idea on his own. I know us old farts are frustratingly slow by young'uns standards to come over to new ideas - but we do come.
I started with a standard Joy 510 auto. Thought it might be something to get me through airports, hotels, and other non-smoking. No intention of quitting. No desire to quit. Auto cut off too quick. Went to a manual added a USB passthrough. Tried 901 standard for the cartomizer flavors - disappointed. Fried the passthrough. Tried mega 510 batts - better. Got a GG slim with an auto feeder - beautiful, shiney, sturdy, good battery life - not my thing. Tried eGo 650 mah - more better. (Still smoking PAD red 100's.)
Yes, there's more. It was a LONG adventure . . . SHORT STORY, I accidentally quit smoking using a 5V passthrough and mega eGos.
Never intended to quit. Took me a few days to realize I had quit. Took even longer to admit to others that I had quit . . . Now smoke free for 7+ months with no intention of going back.
My point? Slow down. It worked for you and it will work for others, but they have to
want it to work. You can't decide it for your dad. Buy yourself something new and non-chalantly hand him your old kit. It may sit there for a month, but eventually he will try it. He may not even admit he tried it, but he will.
What would I recommend he use? An eGo passthrough on a wall charger. I'm NOT an eGo fan, I'm an eGo passthrough fan. (I
was a 30+ year 1 1/2-2 PAD Winston Red 100's smoker.) It's the only thing I currently use and what I recommend for 20+ year smokers. It's simple, always charged and ready to go, lasts a long time when mobile, uses a mini-USB cord, and doesn't require a bunch of screwing things on and off. I plug it in when I'm at home and pop it off and stick it in my pocket with a 5 ml bottle of juice when heading out the door. Simple as a pack of cigs and a lighter. And I already had a mini-USB at work that I charge off my monitor.
Congratulations to you for your successfuly transition off analogs. Good luck with your dad. Patience.
