my first e-cig

I just received the Bauway iTank system today. I am getting decent vapour, but it has a harshness to it that seems uncharacteristic based on other (limited) vaping experience, and in a video review one of the members of this forum said it wasn't good when it made a whooshing rather than a crackling sound, and right out of the box both atomizers are making that kind of whooshing sound. Am I doing anything wrong or will this just resolve itself with time? The drags tend to require more energy than I anticipated, too.

I'm guessing it isn't wicking properly and you are getting the dreaded "dry hit."

Try sucking on it sharply once or twice, without firing the button. It works with the Ego tank. The suction draws juice up the wick and on to the coil. I don't have any experience with the Bauway Tank unfortunately, but it might work.

Also on the Ego Tank, you have to line up the tank cartridge with the atomizer to help loosen the tight draw. Look at the cartridge, then look inside the atomiser. Are there two slits on either side of the atomizer? If so, make sure they line up with the flat sides of the cartridge.

Tips that I've found to improve vape on my iTank system:
-remove both inner plastic barriers in mouthpiece end.
-don't use thick ejuice, 50-50 PG/VG works good for me
-remove tank cartridge from atomizer often to allow air into tank so it doesn't hydraulic lock
-also when removing tank cartridge, keep the outside of it dry(wipe of excess vapor liquid/condensation)
-I found the tank atomizers took a bout a day or so to break in and perform at their best
-use strong flavors as the tank systems mute the flavor
-avoid dark juices as they seem to gunk the Atty up faster
-if bad/nasty taste persists or vapor is reduced I found it needs a good bath/clean to remove the bad burnt taste stuck in the coil/wick

Hopefully some of that might help ya.

well I've helped many people with "Itank" issues.... not to dis, but get a Joye eGo-T atty next time, they work better.... You'll need to get tanks too, as the iTanks don't fit well in a Joye, more of a FYI.

When you first use the iTank atty, blow out any primer, if there is any, and then drip in 2 drops of juice on the needle inside, give it a sec, then pop in the tank. Give that a little turn, and then take a puff. I found that adding the 2 drips initially prevents the wick burnt taste, and will ensure a better vaping experience.

If your iTanks have the silicone bottoms, make sure they are Pierced... there was some manufacturing issues with these, and they didn't pierce properly. Use a round toothpick or a paperclip. Don't make a huge hole, it will leak like a sive if you do.

Remember, tanks need a slow long draw to get a good vape. When your tank gets low on juice, 1/4, top it up or pop in a new one, this way your needle will wick properly.

GL, and welcome to the vaping comunity.

Though many don't agree 100% - I had trouble with my bogetech LEA tank set up and because its got 510 threading I replaced the atty with CE2's. I'm happy. Had a few kinks but WAYYYYYY better than the tank - so I'm happy. Plus it doesn't go through juice. Tank = Durango - CE2 = Jetta Diesel :D

My 2cents...

I personally am happy with my purchase. Everything has it's pros/cons though...

CE2 Clearomizers (Empty) (5/pack)

thanks for the suggestions. Just not clear on what this specific one entails?

Look at the tank cartridge. There should be a tiny hole on the end you put in your mouth. Take a paper clip, put it in the hole and pry out the tiny plastic piece. Behind that is an identical piece of plastic. Remove that as well.

It will increase air flow and should produce a bit more vapor. The downside is that you might need to take a primer puff. You'll see what I mean.

after removing the two plastic things on the mouthpiece I am getting a LOT of vapour and it tastes good, too. Good throat hit as well, which was almost completely absent earlier. The atomizer appears to be working differently and making the crackling sound I have heard is a good sign on this one, so maybe now it's broken in.

Thanks for your help, guys.

heh. Personally, I am not interested in abandoning cigarettes just yet; I enjoy them too much. My incentive to start vaping was rooted in my desire to keep my smoking under control and cut down a bit rather than to quit smoking entirely. Of course, it's great for you that you quit, but being a light smoker and smoking 1-4 cigarettes a day, or just socially, is not something I desire giving up just yet, and carries risks I'm willing to take at the moment. But I get what you're saying and the principle still applies; I don't want to start smoking a full pack a day because my hardware is messed up.

I got basically two e-cigs in my starter kit, two batteries and two atomizers, all tested and working, so I'll wait until something dies on me to replace.

If you enjoy vaping, and find that one flavor, that does it for you, which may take some time, you wont look back. I strongly recommend getting a bunch of samples, stuff that sounds good to you, and give em a shot. Once you find a couple you like go with 10ml's or if you have a few extra dollars, go for 30ml bottles. Even if you don't use right away, let em steep a while, most flavors get better over time. :)

make sure to blow the atty part out before using them at first. there is always a primer in there you need to clean out. blow it out really good first then put the tank on and puff for a while without inhaling. they can also get airlock so spin the tank around now and then when it's not wicking properly. leave it in and twist it 180 degrees. this will let the air lock out usually and let juice flow again.

To the best of my knowledge, Bauway does not have the primer in the attys, whether it is the tank attys or lr510 attys, unlike other manufacturers(from my experience anyways, ive never had a drop of primer in any Bauway product yet)
All Bauway attys ive used have been plug and play, no blowing required....

LO|L Famous last words for me. I didn't plan on quitting. Just wanted to cut back. I did too, I cut way back within a week. To zero. :)

The nice things about e-cigs is there is no set rules. You can quit smoking or cut back. It's up to you.

My bud got bauway stuff at the vape meet and I blew his tank atty out to show him what was in it. I knew it was bauway because of the rubber caps on the tank carts... only takes a couple seconds to blow them out and be sure. my ego t atty has ego t printed on it. his were plain silver. who knows... I just do it from habit.
