My first ever coil build

So the UPS man just made my day and delivered my package early, and in it was my new Helios clone rda. So I quickly set to work building my first coil ever!


It is a single coil, 28g Kanthal with 10 wraps giving me 1.66 ohms resistance and about 8-9watts at about 3.8v.

It vapes amazingly! Flavor is excellent, but my only problem is its a bit to light for me...I typically enjoy mouth to lung inhales and its not really cutting it for me at such high ohms. But I'm still new to this so i dont want to start sub ohm builds quite yet. (I need to master technique before going too far [emoji12]) Full Res images at http://imgur.com/a/QHKNB

that is one cold coil, you should cut it down cut that down to like 6-7 rap. these calculators are your friend and 200-250 mW/mm heat flux is ideal at a given watt

Yeah it looked fairly tidy, but the coil was way too cold... I'm going to try again today and see if I can improve a bit.

Before building another coil, play around with the wick. When starting out in this hobby, I found the coil building was very easy, but getting the wick thickness and length right took a good minute to master. One thing I quickly realized was a thicker wick isn't always better and to avoid creating a bed of wick below the coils.
