Good to see another MN vaper. I've been smoke free since Nov 4th and still use a couple camel snus a day. The first 3 days are the worst, it gets better from there. I'm also using a 510 kit and my juice tastes change daily. One day I like the tocacco, the next I like plain ecopure, the next I'm vaping atomic fireball. Sometimes all in one day. Looks like you've already outspent me, but I'm low on funding due to christmas.

Good Luck and keep it up!!

Loved your post! I found that my 510 was enough to quit analogues right from the start. Haven't touched one since my order got here on Dec 31st. The only problem I have run into is that I think I may be allergic to PG and of course that's all I have near me right now. I just ordered 30 ML of samples too :(

Some more N00B warnings for your list:
1. When you blow out the primer fluid from your atty, make sure you put your mouth on the threaded end. I did it backwards and had that junk in my mouth for hours afterwards... yuck!
2. I bought 1 of each... automatic and manual batteries. I can confirm what everyone else says and wish that I had bought 2 manuals.
3. I despised menthol analogues. The menthol juice that I knicked from the wife tastes nothing like menthol and I actually think I like it. Gonna load up some of her EcoPure now to see if this sore throat will go away.
4. I think I worried too much reading about the 510 battery problems. I went and ordered 2 Mega Batteries and I don't think it was necessary. The regular batteries are just fine and last me 2 whole days before I swap them out. I'd suggest just getting the starter kit and some juice and then make your upgrades when you find them needed.

I'm currently on day 16 of vaping, and it has been a bit over eight and a half days since I last smoked. Still going great. This is a collection of random thoughts on my experience so far. Main topics have been highlighted so that people can skip to the parts they care about.

As already mentioned, I started using snus on the day I quit smoking to ease withdrawal from all of the non-nicotine stuff in cigarettes. I peaked at 3 packets a day on the 6th and 7th, but it has tapered down to 1 a day for the last few days. Yesterday and today, the snus just did not feel good at all. I felt sick and got the hiccups this morning as I was taking it out (while driving) after only 15 minutes of it being in. I expect that I won't want any tomorrow.

I haven't actually been keeping careful track, but I seem to be vaping between 2 and 3 ml per day, and my juices are from 25 to 40 mg/ml. 100mg per day seems like a good round estimate of my consumption. That seems a bit excessive, but it actually lines up pretty well with DVap's theory here, considering that I was smoking 2 packs a day, to the .....

I seem to like the feel even when I don't really need more nicotine. There are times when I'll be chain vaping, and I start to feel a bit light headed from the nicotine, but I have to keep going until I get lucky draw that feels just right in the throat and chest.

In light of these last two points, I'm planning to start cutting my liquids down. I like ECOpure Menthol at 25mg/ml by itself, and I use 40mg/ml unflavored to make my own flavors, mostly with Tasty Puffs until I find something better. My favorites so far are root beer, cherry root beer, cherry root beer with a dash of menthol, watermelon and Mr. Bubble. Grape never seems to turn out very well, and Joosy Froot tastes great a couple of times a day, but it seems to lose all effect if I try to chain it.

I started with two 30ml bottles of 40mg/ml unflavored, one in VG and one in PG, so that I could get a handle on the different properties before making a larger and more efficient purchase. So far, I'm leaning very heavily towards PG all the way. It gives better (more) feeling on the way in, works better in my carts, and, contrary to every other post about it that I've seen on these forums, PG seems to give me better vapor than VG.

My inner math nerd made me calculate the cost per mg for all the different sizes and strengths on MFS and it looks like a half liter of 60mg/ml is the current king at 0.007132 cents per mg of nicotine. For reference, I paid double that per mg for my 40mg/ml stuff. I know I could get even better from that place in China selling 99% nicotine, but I'm also going to factor in the ease of handling. 60mg/ml (or even 100mg/ml) fluid should safe enough for me to handle carefully without any special precautions.

I ordered a bunch of atomizers from china (heaven-gifts) on the 3rd, and it looks like the post office tried to deliver today while I was out. That is using the fast shipping option, but 7 working days is still a lot quicker than I was expecting.

The new atomizers are in a rainbow of colors. I plan to dedicate specific colors to specific flavors so that I'm not always mixing flavors when I change carts. Not that I've really had many problems with that, other than the JC sampler that didn't agree with me and lingered.

I've had zero atomizer problems so far. I have three from the PureSmoke starter and refill kits I started with, and two from my 510 kit. The 510 atomizers have each been cleaned once along the way, in everclear. I just popped them in because I had the tub open after cleaning carts and filling materials, and not because I felt they needed it. I also didn't blow them out when I started, and I've never primed them. Then again, I had effectively no senses of taste or smell when I got the first ones, now that I'm starting to taste and smell again I may need to blow out the new ones I'm getting.

I'm also getting a set of battery threads in the order. I figured I'd end up making a mod sooner or later, and I already have some ideas. One idea is one that I haven't seen posted anywhere, but then again I haven't looked very hard either. I'm hoping it is because no one else has thought of it yet rather than it being a bad idea. Time will tell, I guess.

Holy crap, this turned into a huge rambling post. In the spirit of helping fellow noobs, I'm going to highlight some keywords to help people find the paragraphs that might be useful to them and skip the rest. But if you are reading this part, you probably already wasted your time reading the whole thing. :)

OK you guys are making me nervous... I thought was going to be easy and was having a hard time understanding why anyone would need to smoke after starting to vape.. Think I'm getting the idea and it is a bit discouraging.

I have been smoking since the 70's (God that makes me old) and I use to smoke 2 to 2 1/2 a day-never had any intention of quitting I liked it.
Then about 12 yrs ago I went on Wellbutrin for chronic depression and after about 2 weeks I realized I was only smoking maybe 10 cigs a day-shocked I saw i could quit then if I wanted to but I didn't. I figured the smokes I was holding onto were ritual- morning, phone, dinner, drinking and then every popular stress.
So life went along and I stayed at an average of 10 analogs a day even when told to quit because of a circulation issue. Then my Doctor decided 2 years ago I needed Thyroid tests for a lump- let me tell you if they say thyroid tests for any reason other than hormone production they mean surgery, because after they run you through scans and biopsies in the end the only way to rule out cancer is surgery so the surgery set and I was told I had to stay over night- The Hospital is 100% smoke free inside and out- I panicked, then I saw how addicted I was to these cancer sticks when I realized I was more terrorized of having to go 24 hours without a smoke than I was of having my throat sliced open.
So I went on the patch, and started to cut out an analog here and there until I made it through the surgery no problem, didn't even think about smoking (maybe the morphine and Demerol helped there lol) but I lit up the minute I got in the car.
Then my sis came to see me and after 20 yrs smoke free she was smoking again so I figured what would 1 here or there hurt-
flash forward I still smoke an average of 10 analogs a day.

So long story short I believe the actual act of smoking is my addiction more than the actual chemicals (aside from Nicotine) so when the universe lined up and shoved me into the world of PV's I was excited I thought replacing that anaolg here or there would be a snap and I would be analog free once I started vaping...
So think my expectations are to high? or could I truly just need the act of vaping to replace the analogs?

I honestly have felt 100% positive this was it, I have never felt that way before- but it looks like I should lower my expectations a bit. That or take lots of Xanax when the craving starts to get to me. :)

Kalekona, they might be bit high. But it's nice to see that you are concerned enough to ask and be prepared for it. I think it would definitely be a big mistake for anyone to pick up any e-cig and think it's their answer to quitting.

I got my VP Spade just before new years. From day 1 i went from over a pack a day to 2 or 3 analogs. I wasn't completely smoke free, but no doubt one hell of an improvement. Now i still get a craving for analogs every once and a while when some rare triggers pop up . . but then i just vape away and it passes. Those 2 or 3 a day stopped when i sat down and really thought about it. Was just a matter of self discipline and determination to turn those down and be smoke free. Finding my comfort zone and limits of my Spade definitely helped me settle into cutting myself off from analogs.
