Did you quit or do you still smoke a few?

Reading all the quitting stories and testimonials on this site got me to finally try vaping. A friend of mine at work ordered a kit from SmokeTip and was trying to convince me it was a great idea. After 1 day of listening to him push the product I figured why not give it a shot. For $60 it wasn't a big deal and if what he was saying turned out to be true it would be the best $60 I ever spent. Got my 808 SmokeTip yesterday morning. Didn't smoke analogs at all yesterday. I still have 4 in pack I might smoke just to get rid of them but then again maybe not. Now I see the alternative to analogs and I have no interest in smoking both. vaping is my out from analogs. I also ordered an Ego-T setup and juice for home vaping. I'll use the 808 around town...

I still smoke--typically two in the early morning, none through the course of the day, and two or three in the evening. My rule is no more than six, and I'm really strict with myself on that. In fact that sixth light-up has become very rare lately. That's down from 1-1.5 ppd over a 40+ year habit. (I'm more concerned about the health impacts of my past smoking than my present.)

I know I'm not--but sometimes I feel like I am--the only one here who still loves the sensation, taste, and smell of cigarettes (as I prefer to call them). But I also consider this low level of smoking kind of a safety valve that makes me less likely ever to give up vaping and return to my former routine.

I started with a 10 dollar disposable from a local convenience mart. Then I used 510 set-up, graduated to the Ego. Then I found this forum and got into mods and bottom feeders. I found some digs in my saddle bags about a month into my new venture and smoked one. I thought OMG why did I ever start smoking. That was my last analog. I think I have everything I need now for months of use, so if I can keep my wants under control I may finally start to save money.

I was looking for a way to save money smoking. Tried giving up with patches, gum, etc but couldnt (after 45 years of smoking). 2.5 packs a day was costing a fortune. Thought about smuggling via the internet. During my research came across e-cigs. Thought this might be the way. Ordered a Tornado kit from Totally Wicked, plus a load of juice from China.

Once I started to vape, I realised I didn't need a cigarette again. Haven't touched them in 2 months. Not paid any tax in that time either, which keeps me going. Health has improved as well. Can't lose.

I don't care about looks when out and about. The worst mistake is to get a lookalike - people think you are smoking. If asked, I tell them my PV is a medical appliance or a strange Chinese musical instrument. I use the Ego Tank system when out and a 5v pass through at home. The last link in the chain is avoiding buying atomisers every week or so, so I have a Bulli A2 on order, which can be repaired.

I still have a pouch of rolling tobacco in a drawer which I think I will throw away as the thought of using it doesn't appeal to me at all.

I have now made the swap to e-cigs and I am two months in. I have not saved any money yet because of all of the experimenting that I have done. I will admit I had a week moment when I was out of cartridges (before I switched to e-juice) and I almost bought a pack of cigarettes. Instead I bought a starter kit for an over the counter brand. I blame USPS for making me buy the smoke 51 kit. But at least it kept me away from analogs in my time of weakness. I would rather spend $50 on new and interesting e-juices than buy a carton of cigarettes.

Well, so far I have made the switch to vaping. For the first month and a half or so with my PV, I have been reducing how many analogs I smoke per day. I went from 1 pack down to 3-5 and Saturday I just kind of forgot about smoking analogs and I just sort of went with it. So, *knock on wood*, but I haven't had an analog since about 5:30 on Saturday. It hasn't been too hard while using my PV, but I do find myself chain-vaping alot. Only occasionally do I have an "I need a cigarette!" moment, but they quickly pass as I puff on my pv. :)

Quit completely om the 3rd day! 30 year habit gone!

This basically mirrors my own experience. Received my kit on a Wednesday (had a pack of cigarettes on the go that I wasn't going to 'waste'), began vaping that day while finishing my pack of cigarettes. Had my last cigarette that Friday night and have been 'smoke free' ever since. I had quit smoking for periods of time in the past but always was already drawn back to it because I missed something about it. Vaping has given me the missing element so I'm not tempted nor do I have any desire to go back to analogs!

I quit a year before I started vaping. Occasionally I get so drunk that I end up having one if they are available but I will never buy another pack myself. I loved smoking but it made me feel like .... and when my grandfather went down with cancer it was a wake up call. Vaping is more enjoyable and does far less damage to one's health. Perhaps it's still a vice but that is a rather long list in my case.

Started vaping 11-29-10, took a few puffs from an analog that night.
NaSTeee tasting stuff! Why O why, did I ever suck that crap into my lungs for decades? I do not know.
I thank the doc who invented the ecigs with all my heart!
Been vaping, and smoke free...ummm about 97 days or so.
And I feel so much better, in so many ways. Smell better too! :)

I smoked a pack of day of Menthol cigarettes for many many decades.

My intention was to quit when I got my E-Cig, but it didn’t work out that way, between an illness, and getting used to the e-cig I ended up doing both, smoking and vaping, doing less of the former and more of the latter for a couple of weeks, then just over 2 weeks ago, I stopped smoking all together.

I did have a single cigarette, after not having one for a couple of weeks, and it was so bad, my e-cig so much better that there is no chance I will be going back.

I would much much rather have a vape, than a smoke.
