So last night, I went to a rock concert (5FDP, All That Remains, and Hatebreed, for those who care) and I got questioned about my ecig and juice by the security. She at first did not even care about the ecig, she was far more concerned about the juice. She asked if I had a prescription for it! I was like, um no, it just liquid nicotine that you place into your ecig. Then she did not believe me, and was like, "do you have this ecig with you sir" I showed it to her, she questioned me a bit and then told me that I could not use it inside the venue, because it is the same as smoking regular cigs. I was floored by that statement, but nodded my head and kept moving. (If anyone has been to a concert, most rules go out the window as soon as the band starts playing) So, I need to start carrying cards on me that explain what ecigs are, because this is my first time to try and explain what they are, and I already do not want to do it again.

I'm going to play devil's advocate and state that you all are being too tough on this security guard (or waiter, or bartender, or any other type of employee in all the other stories like this). These are wage-earners with bills and families to support. Any step outside their narrow delineation of responsibility can cost them their job. When you walk into a show -where you know security will check you- with a bottle of juice in your pocket, do you think the guard wants to get into a 10 minute e cig lesson and debate with you and have to decide whether to risk her job for you? With all respect to the OP, you should have at the very least loaded up a couple carts to get you through the show and left the bottle in the car.

We're a tiny subsection of the general population so no matter how much we advocate for acceptance on here, there is still a pervasive unacceptance and ignorance. The way to more acceptance isn't through testing the boundaries of average people just trying to do the job their boss has told them to do.

When I went to moe.down this summer I had to get my bag searched. The lady who did it was like "what on earth are all these little bottles for?!" So I explained it to her, turns out shes a smoker too and wanted to try ecigs but didn't think they worked. Ended up having a 15 min conversation with her while she picked my brain, and she let me go without issue.

Yes, I agree somewhat, and I did not complain because I know that she was just doing her job, and after our conversation she let me go without issue and I was just relaying the story. However, I clearly put everything on the table before I got searched, and do not mind telling someone what it is and what it does (which someone who is trying to get something in would not do). I was just stating that I was tired of the long explanations and that I needed to order cards. Honestly though, if you work at something like this, or any security, law enforcement, TSA, or anything where you have to search the general pubic, you should be somewhat informed about what things are so that you can see real threats vs imaginary ones. I should not have to adapt to someones ignorance by leaving my things in the car, since I am completely within my rights to carry a bottle of juice. And just as a side note, IF it wasn't a metal concert, I am sure that I would of had a lot less questions asked.

Oh the concert was a slue of expletives that I can not say on ECF, but in laymen's it was awesome. Had a great time. I just want to know if I get questioned of my ecig that hard, how people get "other" things in.

I'm pretty sure it's because of those "other" things that they are paying enough attention to notice your PV and juice.

I haven't been to a big concert in over a decade. Did they find this via a patdown or something? How did they even know had it?

I put everything in my pocket onto the table before I went though the metal detector, then a pat down after the metal detector.

Just in case our exchange comes off wrongly, I want to make clear that I'm only offering a friendly counterpoint and not trying to be a jerk. So here's a couple friendly counterpoints :) In a perfect vaping world, every security, law enforcement, TSA, etc would indeed be informed about e cigs and adopt a permissible stance. But they aren't, and you aren't going to change anything with your private soapbox at the security checkpoint of a rock show. It will only be through continued, coordinated advocacy efforts that things will change. Until then, if you don't want to get into 10 minute long confrontations and hassles, then you will have buck up, swallow your vapor pride, and adapt to people's ignorance as you put it. Or you can certainly fight the good fight and assert your rights, but don't be so surprised and indignant that these things happen.

Ah no harm, I know you were just playing the devils advocate. I just sometimes let my fingers press keys without thinking of the tone of voice I am "saying" Hopefully no offense was taken .

Ive been a vaper(vapee? Lol) for 5 days and have already been told that I can't smoke my pv @ this function in the woods. I'm pretty certain the reason the no smoking rule was put in place was to prevent fires so I really dont understand the ppl being all crazy about it. Anyway, it is a pain to have people's ignorance about something turn into fear and restrict you. That's why I'll be mostly stealth vaping in "iffy" public place just to avoid the issue and any inconvience or prejudice(hehe) it may bring. I hope no one has to deal with too much sillyness.

I've been pulled over. Cop thought I was hitting a sneak a toke. Wear boots and just put your e-cig in them going to concerts. I wear Justins'

Just an FYI, they made me pull up my jeans and shined a flashlight around the tops of my boots at an Iron Maiden show in Houston. They also made me turn all my pockets inside out and lift my shirt to inspect my waistband. Of course, not all shows are this bad but if they want to look in your boots and they hit a nice shiny PV with the flashlight, things are going to get interesting.

I'm heading to a concert at House of Blues in Houston in a couple of weeks, and have converted from eGo to a Reo Grand...i'm a little concerned about getting in the door with it, so I may pack an eGo in my shoe just to get thru...one of my friends has promised to buy all of our drinks, so having no vaping equipment is NOT an option. :)

Hey, homedude- nice to see someone else from Conroe on here!
