Yesterday I was out & about and had 2 people ask me about my ecigs. My non-smoking friend was with me. She pointed out that I never mentioned ecigs can be a "step-down" to stop smoking. She also asked me to take my device apart and show them how it worked. It made me realize I need a better "sales pitch" for random strangers! So 2 questions that came from yesterday -

What would you say to a smoker who asks about your ecig?

What would you say to a non-smoker who is asking on behalf of a family member? (Our waiter was asking because he wanted to get one as a present for his grandma :) )

I tell them that vaping was a necessary harm reduction method for myself. I had failed to quit after trying every other way. This was the only way I could release myself from the hold cigarettes had on me, plus it appealed to the tech geek in me. As for what to use first, that depends on who's asking. Some are intimidated by the devices I use (MVP 2 and Provari) and those that are are pointed to the supposedly evil 808 D-1 cigalikes that Halo or Smokeless Image carries AND told to get an eGo starter kit as well. The eGo comes in handy when the cigalikes aren't satisfying, and the cigalikes are for the familiar form factor and simplicity. Some really do need that, and I think we do a disservice to newbies by dismissing that need. I even have a few cigalikes that I carry around to pass out to smokers who express an interest, as I have been in communication with a local vendor who was generous enough to donate a few to me. Even without the freebies, for less then $10 they sell them for, I think it's worth converting a smoker.

Tell the waiter that it is the best thing he could do for his grandma. But she is going to be intimidated by it and to get her something simple to start with. Like a EVOD or something. And to make it easy for her to carry and take care of. Start her with some flavor she is used to. I also found that recommendations on the nic level made a huge difference. I smoked for 20+ years and the "official" recommendation regarding nic level was 18... I tried it.. no go... so I upped it to 24 and was happy. I have now worked down to 18 and am working on lowering that even more. Basically, KISS.. Keep It Simple.

In general I tell people it is the best effing thing I have done for myself in years. Quit 2 months ago, no cigs since the day I started and feel good. Flavors can be incredible or horrid, have to find what you like.

Hope it all helps. :)
