My First MOD - DNA 20 Clone in Hammond Enclosure

Finally fished my first dna 20 style mod (clone chip from China - figure I would practice before getting on with the real chip).

Took me a while to finish it due to the button (16mm) and box (small) I chose. Will continue with extended testing for the next week for a final glue down

(1) Hammond ABS Enclosure
(2) 16mm dome style vandal
(3) C & K - surface mount dome style "clicky" button
(4) dna 20 clone chip including Micro USB charging board (similar to fasttech chip)
(5) Keystone 18650 battery terminal
(6) Fatdaddy spring loaded 510 connector
(7) jonniemac - DNA20/30 screen cradle and USB charging board mount
(8) DH lab Silversonic hookup wire
(9) TE Connectivity - poly swtich 16v - 2,6 Amp hold and 5 amp trip
(10) Carbon vinyl wrap from ebay
(11) PC - PCI empty slot grill guard cut to fit battery venting hole
(12) Neodym magnets on 4 corners

it's too much to count......a labor of love. It's cheaper just to buy a chana mod......but it won't have everything I wanted. conservatively estimate, it would be around $65. heck, one foot of DH Lab silver lighting hook up wire is already $5 bucks.....

I don't do RBA's and am not a cloud chaser....and my experience is only limited to Zmax V5 telescope and Magnetto so far and a recent built of keychain box mod using Vamo 5 chip (the prototype is very rough. I will share some pictures once i pretty it up).

From my experience I found that the vapor to be a lot more consistent and flavorful comparing to my previous commercial mods. I have three real DNA chip on hand; I will build them and make a comparison. Since I do not vape more than 12 watts max.....beside the consistency, I am not sure it would make that big of a difference. I like the Hana box, but I am a little paranoid about using high drain batteries (even with the IMR's). I wanted to magnetic box lid that allows me to swap out the battery ( or dump it fast) if I so do chose. This way, I can always have a spare in my pocket in case I do not have the time to charge up. Beside, what's the use of a pretty car, if you can't peek under the hood on what is making it move lol !!

Thanks a million. When I started, I wanted a box as small as possible and I wanted a prefabricated sturdy plastic box due to limited equipment to work with metal and wood (dremel and hand drill). After looking at all stock Hammond box, I picked this one. Due to existing battery terminal on the market for 18650 (I don't want a fasttech battery holder because it looked too flimsy to me) from keystone, I have no choice but to use terminals without the plastic base (due to fit). Since i started with plastic box, insulating the terminals from the box is really not an issue. I ended up with Keystone battery terminal 54 (for 16mm to 19mm diameter battery). What is great with these terminals is it has three bottom mounting pins which allow me to pre-drill guide holes and figure out the battery length before final glue down. Once the batter can fit nicely into the case, the rest kind'a pop into their natural place. What I would do different is to move the USB charging board facing the side of the box. This would allow me more room to mount the chip.

After extended vaping with the MOD for a few days; I do not think I can go back to my old commercial mods anymore. The flavor is strong and consistent and I can taste more subtle differences that was not there when vaping with my old mods. For complex flavor mix of juice like "Five Pawn" or "The Standard", it make even more of a difference.

When I have my co-worker try the MOD, it was very hard for them to go back to Ego's. Even my recent build VAMO 5 does not come close, well fairly close). Happy Vaping.
