I recently decided to take up vaping again (hopefully the third time is the charm). Unfortunately, the 510 batteries I had on hand won't hold a charge for more than about 20 minutes, and I can't find either of my egos, so I decided to see what I could come up with from my parts bin. It isn't particularly special or unique, just a nicostick with the atty connector mounted flush instead of sunk into the case, but it works great and produces more vapor than my stock Egos ever did. The atty connector is salvaged from one of the dead 510s. The battery box and switch were just spare parts I had kicking around, and 6 protected 14500s/a charger only set me back $20 from dealExtreme. The white gunk inside that holds the atty connector in place is just epoxy putty.

I'm looking forward to attempting something more complex for my next build, but overall I'm quite pleased with the way this turned out -- $20 and half an hour's work isn't bad for the equivalent of 18 510 batteries :)

A note to anyone who wants to attempt this mod:

The battery enclosure I am using originally came from The Source (Canada's version of Radio Shack), and the combination of the positive nipple on my battery and the positive battery terminal in the enclosure is not QUITE tall enough to make good contact. I discovered this at work today when my PV suddenly wouldn't fire. It can be fixed very easily, however -- after about an hour of blind panic and hoping it wasn't a short inside the blob of epoxy, I noticed that I could make the connection by sticking a small flat head screwdriver underneath the terminal and bending it up slightly. Everything seems to be working great now :)

Thanks :) I'm making a lot better progress this time -- I haven't bought a pack of smokes since about the 5th, and for the last week or so I haven't even seriously wanted to. One thing that's really helping is coming up with new ideas to mod -- I love building things and tinkering, and it helps give me something to focus on other than "OMG I NEED A CIGARETTE!".

looks great man nice and clean. yeah since my first mod i have had the itch. looking at things and say hmm i bet i could make that a ecig....
About the switch on the side i used a big horn switch and it wouldnt fit on side i have no problem with pocket fires that im aware of. the slide back to the box takes half the side so would make hard to put anything other then a tactile switch.
