My First Mod

After initial experiments went favorably (I managed to power an atomizer briefly using a cannibalized RCA cord and a USB cord), I have decided to enter the world of modded ecigs. I'm about to go out to The Source to pick up parts to make a nicostick and a passthrough. I'll post back with updates.

My only problem so far is connecting the atomizer (using a 510) to the battery. I tried using an RCA tip again but I cant push the middle pin down without breaking it. Any suggestions? Preferably something I can pick up at radio shack over something I'll have to order

you aint gettin it at RS though..

If your gonna be moddin, you'll need to get some things online, sorry..
The only batt/ atty connector that really works very well at all is the size N dc jack from RS for 901 attys...

Well, after a few times sitting down and trial and erroring, I emerge victorious!

I now have a slight variation on the nicostick (in that it has a combo passthrough). The black button is USB power and the red button is battery power. I spliced together a usb cord and an rca cord and attached a female rca plug to the case to make the cord detachable.

I managed to make an atty connection out of yet another rca cable. The one that I had before when I was experimenting was too unreliable to make a mod out of.

Also, I don't have a 3.7v battery at the moment so it is batteryless (usb power works like a dream), but I'm going to pick one up today.

You could try to make it a true USB passthrough (USB charges the battery). You can buy cheap USB powered chargers to cannibalize, and you might be able to build something from the PCB in a small MP3 player. Just find the leads on the internal battery and connect them to your cell, as a bonus, you could make a rechargeable nicostick USB passthrough that holds your music library.

That's a good idea, although I thnk I'm done tinkering, at least for now.

Since those pictures were taken, I rewired it all for neatness' sake and put a metal casing around the wires on the atty connection.

Anyhow, i've been vaping with it all day and now I understand why people do this. The throat hit and flavor were fantastic using a 510 atomizer directly powered by USB.
