Hello all. Totally stoked thought if share. Went to the shop today and got my first mod. I got a iGo w k100 with a RDA , running at .4 ohms with dual coils. 30 amp sony battery and picked up some new juice. Freaking love it and though id share

Glad you are enjoying it.

However, running coils this low can be dangerous, considering it is your first ever mod. I am guessing you have an ohm meter, since you know the resistance of your build. Just know that you can "blow clouds" with 2 1.6ohm micro coils - which would come out to 0.8ohms. In my opinion you should stick to higher resistance builds until you are really familiar with the process, what can go wrong and how to spot these issues right away.

I don't mean to come across as negative. Just want you to be safe.

I agree safety is pretty important. Can you advise what I need to be looking for or any suggestions?

Really basic, which you probably already know include:

1.Mod/switch getting hot
2. Flavour suddenly changes - could indicate a short
3. Bouncing ohm reading.

Stay at .8 ohms and up man, .4 is pushing it,your only 4 points from a hard short.

Short circuiting a capacitor or a battery is definitely not recommended as the destructive power unleashed is often seriously under estimated.

Short circuits can produce very high temperatures due to the high power dissipation in the circuit. If a charged, high-voltage capacitor is short circuited by a thin wire, the resulting huge current and power dissipation will cause the wire to actually explode.

Arc welding is a common example of the practical application of the heating due to a short circuit. The power supply for an arc welder can supply very high currents that flow through the welding rod and the metal pieces being welded. The point of contact between the rod and the metal surfaces gets heated to the melting point, fusing a part of the rod and both surfaces into a single piece

Okay no doubt I really appreciate it. I am going to get some coil an wick supplies on Tuesday and then I'll rebuild it and run it at that advised ohm..and go from there . Thanks again. However I will say too that since I've been using it since it was built, hasn't really gotten hot and hasn't shown any other signs of issues..but I def will heed the warnings and go with the advice of the vets

Okay cool. So since I am still a noob, what would you suggest for my RDA like for example like 1 coil with a higher ohm...or dual with higher...? Input very appreciated

Try a single 1.2ohm micro coil. There are various tutorials on youtube showing you how. I am certain you will be more than happy with the results.

Also - to be even safer, using a regulated device such as a: vamo, mvp, provari etc with built in protection is your best bet when first starting out with rebuilding. They will also fire a coil down to 1.2-1.3 ohms.

Happy vaping.

Wow that's def a route to go..now he uses cotton..could I still use a wick like I do know ?

Yes, you can but you would have to "fish" the wick through using a piece of thin wire e.g 32g kanthal.
I would strongly urge going the cotton route as it gives the best flavour and vapor production, in my opinion. It is also a lot cheaper than buying a few feet of ekowool or silica. Changing flavour is also a breeze. Just take out the cotton, dry burn until your coil glows and then install a fresh piece of cotton.

A lot of the guys on here use CVS sterile rolled cotton, I believe. I can't comment on it as I'm not from the US but I hear it's great.

As for what voltage? it really is trial and error. Just start low at 3.7v and keep bumping it up until you are satisfied or experience a burnt flavour.
