My first order shipped today - a few questions for when it arrives

So, I finally made my first purchase last night and the supplier emailed a confirmation that it was shipped this morning. I'm very excited to quit analogs and try out the many of the different styles of vaping (atty+tank, Carto's, Dripping, etc..) I've done a BUNCH of research on equipment and how to use it, but I'm not really sure what "prep" is required before I jump in. I didn't buy a standard "starter kit", so I don't think I'll get any kind of instruction manual to answer some of these simple "prep" questions that I have.

For example, I read (here on ECF) that atomizers generally come with some nasty fluid in it to keep it clean during shipping and storage. I plan on simply blowing this out onto a paper towel and "priming" it with some e-liquid that I ordered. But what about empty cartomizers? How do I go about cleaning these out, or can I fill them up and go?

Also, I've read that I should let my e-Liquid sit for a while (to steep?) before I start using it. How long should I do this before I start using a new bottle?

Is there is anything else that I'm missing?

If it helps, here is what I ended up buying (based off of recommendations from many posts on ECF and various video reviews):

  • Two Joyetech eGo-C Twist batteries (with two chargers - 1 for work, 1 for home)
  • Four Joyetech eGo-T Atomizers (2 Type A, 2 Type B)
  • Two 5-pack Joyetech eGo-T Cartridges/Tanks
  • Two 5-Pack Boge Refillable 510 Cartomizers (empty)
  • Four Misc. Drip Tips
  • Two 30ml Camel Flavored E-Liquid (1 PG, 1 VG) (I smoke camel analogs, so I think this will be a good transition)
  • Five 10ml E-Liquid - Misc. flavors that I am pretty sure I will like.
  • Five 5ml E-Liquid - Misc. flavors that I am not so sure on (but I want to try)

Hello and welcome! You've got the right idea, just blow out the primer in the atomizer, and then prime with 3-4 drops of your liquid. I usually take a few puffs without inhaling to start out. It may take a little bit to break in your new atomizers. After you take a few more puffs without inahlling, drip a couple three extra drops and try it out. If it tastes a bit funky, just keep puffing without inhalling, and then try again.

It may take a bit to get dripping down, it's quite common to flood the attys when your first starting. Flooding can get a bit messy, so be prepared :) I recommend investing in some drip shields and an adapter if you plan on dripping quite a bit. Was one of the best things I could've invested in, I love them. Using a sealed 510-510 adapter also helps to keep e-liquid out of the battery connector.

I haven't used my cartomizers yet, but I don't think you have to do anything special. Just fill them the right way the first time, and then top off when it starts to dry out. There are quite a few good videos on how to refill using the condom method (the rubber tips that come on the cartomizers). I intend to use this method when I try my first ones.

Sounds like your off and running with everything else though! Hope all works well, and I wish you the best of luck transitioning to vaping form the cigarettes!

Thanks base! I forgot to touch on the topic of steeping. I agree, some juice has been great right off the bat, while others have gotten better after sitting for awhile. Sorry I didn't provide links to some good videos (I should probably figure out how to do that). PBusardo is the guy I'd recommend as well, he does a great job. GrimmGreen also has some informative vids.

I gotta say, you did your research before purchasing. That's a really good intro kit! I would just suggest checking out videos on all the different cartos, attys, etc. so you don't get a burnt taste (which is really hard to get out) and get the full flavour out of them. I used to think filling them was idiot proof, but I've thrown out a 5 pack of burnt cartos, so apparently not...

And finally, welcome to the vaping world! You're definitely going to enjoy it. If not at first, just give it a week.
