Thanks so much everyone for your help on choosing what equipment to start off with! I thought I'd let you all know that I went with the Volt X2 650mah manual. I got 2 batteries and just a couple packs of carto's to see if I would even like the flavor. To be honest, it was the thing I was most worried about. I have realized over the past couple years with analogs, that I really hate smoking. I hate the taste and really hate the smell, and hate the fact that I am probably giving myself cancer... slowly. Anyway... I just got my goodies in the mail! Took everything out and was vaping in seconds. Super duper easy and I have to say...I love it. The '555' flavor carto from Smokeless Image is yummy! I can't wait to try the menthol one.

I also bought some 'blanks'. Now this is where I need some more help! What specifically do I buy, and how do I fill these blanks? Is filling your own better and/or cheaper than buying the prefilled ones? I don't mind doing a little work with these. I just need to know what/how to do it.

Thanks for any advice you may have on this subject!

Filling is cheaper, as premade carts are generally one offs, you run out of juice and you're done, while you can refill blanks. There should be a guide on the Volt website under the blank carts on how to fill them. I suggest taking a look at sites like mtbakervapor.com and mrvape.com if you want to try out a lot of flavours for cheap.

Way to go. I started with the Volt X2 a month ago tomorrow and have not touched a cig since. I love the X2.

You need to find some juice you like to fill the cartos with, definitely cheaper. The trick is finding something you like. There are plenty of good vendors and endless flavors it seems.

Personally, I did not like the cartos and moved on to the X2 clearomizer from Smokeless Image almost immedately, which I absolute love and have had no problems with.

Good Luck!

Thanks for your input! Can I ask what you didn't like about the cartos and why the clearo is better for you? What problems did you have with cartos? SO I know what to look out for....

You should be able to refill the Volt Flavored cartos, watch their videos on the website, they actually recommend topping them off every so often rather than vaping them until they're dry (good advice for any carto). The X2 clearomizers are nice, they let you fill up with more liquid over the cartos. The first ones I used were the SI clearos, but I'd recommend you buy some rebuildables (which SI doesn't sell) It's basically the same thing with the ability to swap out the coil and wicks. Replacement heads are cheap. Many suppliers sell them under a myriad of names, just make sure you're getting something with 808 threads. I buy mine from NHaler.

I just found filling the cartos and the overall taste to be less than satisfactory. With the clearomizer you can actually see how much juice is left instead of having to guess and constantly top it off. Also the taste is cleaner because there is no filler like there is in a carto. I don't know how long they last yet, as the original 2 I started with a month ago are still working. I clean the clearomizers every 2-3 refills and they are working just as well as they did a month ago. There are some very good videos on how to clean the clearomizer, including on the SI website.

Keeping in mind this is all very, subjective, what works for me may not work for you. But I would suggest ordering one X2 clearomizer just to give it a try to see what you think.

Congrats on the new addition! I started with the regular volt and soon purchased an x2, I love her! I've been cigarette free for 9 days and couldn't be happier.

I'm still fairly new to vaping and have both cartos and clearos. I like the clearomizers because you can fill them yourself, monitor the juice level and refill when needed. I bought several different juice flavors from ECBlends in their sample size before purchasing larger bottles, I would suggest finding a juice company that tickles your fancy and select a few samples to test out. I have only ordered juice from them but so far I have been rather impressed. I like sweet flavors myself and have been vaping their Dulce De Leche for the last week, deeelicious! I have heard very good things about Heather's Heavenly Vapes and Alice in Vapeland as well, they are on my list to order from next.

Below is a link to SI's youtube video on how to fill blank cartomizers.
