I picked up a Nimbus clone on eBay the other week. It came pre-built in dual coil fashion which was fine cause I was interested in trying it out before I made an attempt at my own rebuild to sort of get a better idea of how it should perform. Pre-built it came in at 0.9ohms on my iTaste vv v3.0. It hit pretty good.

Today I went to my local vape shop (VapeDojo) and purchased a couple feet of 30awg kanthal. I didn't have a 1/16 drill bit or needle hanging around. The closest I found was a 5/64 bit in my toolbox. From my experience with the pre-built Nimbus in the week that I used it I figured I wanted to stay somewhere around 1ohm with dual coil. Using the "Kanthal A1 Coil Calculator" spreadsheet I found floating around on the Googlesphere it suggested I use a total of 9 wraps on each coil to achieve about 1ohm total resistance. I think I might have done 11 wraps on each coil cause I'm getting a reading of about 1.2ohms. For the wick I used some white Peaches & Cream cotton yarn (unboiled) that I picked up the other night from Walmart for like $3.

I am very excited to report that it is working great! Actually, I think it's working better than it did pre-built, which was still pretty awesome. After I finish posting this I'm going to try my hand at rebuilding one of my Protank II coil heads. Wish me luck!

Just wanted to say thank you for all those that contribute to everyone that posts questions regarding rebuilds. While I did not post any questions myself I did spend quite a few hours reading questions and responses all throughout this site. I would not have been this daring to try my own rebuild so quickly in my journey had it not been for all of you. I'm hooked!

Great news, I started rebuilding with my protanks and i have to say i have had very very good luck with them. I have one at 1.2ohms and it lung hits like a train. You should be fine just take your time and follow a good video, Riptrippers has a good one and so does Grimgreen.

If you are going to rebuild a lot, get like 100ft spools of wire or more, you will save so much cash. My local shop charges $5 for 1 meter of kanthal, yeh, its BS you can get a spool of a 100ft for $7 on Amazon. Mesh is pricey no matter where you get it but buying 12"x12" sheets save you money over 3"x3" from local shop.

Have fun!

My local shop sells it for $1/foot which I know is expensive but I just didn't want to wait. I put in an order for 100' 28awg on Amazon after reading your post, so thanks for that.

I just finished my PT2 using 5 wraps and it came out to 1.2ohm. It's hitting like a champ. I have two other PT2 heads laying around here so I'm going be rebuilding those before the night is done.

+1 for a new MD rebuilder.

+1 for VapeDojo, nice guys over there.

When I picked up my Chimbus it def needed to be deep cleaned, it had machine oil all inside of it and was giving off a bad taste. Deep cleaned and it works like a champ.

Yeah the guys over at VapeDojo were great. It got a little busy in there today but that's good. Shows there's a lot of support from the neighborhood! Kahuna Vapors is just down the street in the Normandy Shopping Center next to Ledo's Pizza and have great juices. They were in the Sun last week and on the news yesterday. Media did a good job of getting the good word out there.

I was thinking about picking up a Trident RBA from VapeDojo this weekend. What do you mean by "deep cleaning"? When I got my Nimbus I didn't do anything as far as any sort of cleaning other than rubbing it with a clean cloth. I didn't really notice anything like machine oil taste or anything funky. Maybe I got lucky. What would you suggest?

It just had a funky smell to it and a little oily residue left on it. Nothing a tooth brush, some alcohol and an ultrasonic cleaner couldn't fix :D I guess you got lucky but sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't.

Kahuna Vapors are some good guys also. I've dealt with the online store but never been to the actually store. I still have some KV juice left.
