I picked up a Nimbus clone on eBay the other week. It came pre-built in dual coil fashion which was fine cause I was interested in trying it out before I made an attempt at my own rebuild to sort of get a better idea of how it should perform. Pre-built it came in at 0.9ohms on my iTaste vv v3.0. It hit pretty good.
Today I went to my local vape shop (VapeDojo) and purchased a couple feet of 30awg kanthal. I didn't have a 1/16 drill bit or needle hanging around. The closest I found was a 5/64 bit in my toolbox. From my experience with the pre-built Nimbus in the week that I used it I figured I wanted to stay somewhere around 1ohm with dual coil. Using the "Kanthal A1 Coil Calculator" spreadsheet I found floating around on the Googlesphere it suggested I use a total of 9 wraps on each coil to achieve about 1ohm total resistance. I think I might have done 11 wraps on each coil cause I'm getting a reading of about 1.2ohms. For the wick I used some white Peaches & Cream cotton yarn (unboiled) that I picked up the other night from Walmart for like $3.
I am very excited to report that it is working great! Actually, I think it's working better than it did pre-built, which was still pretty awesome. After I finish posting this I'm going to try my hand at rebuilding one of my Protank II coil heads. Wish me luck!
Just wanted to say thank you for all those that contribute to everyone that posts questions regarding rebuilds. While I did not post any questions myself I did spend quite a few hours reading questions and responses all throughout this site. I would not have been this daring to try my own rebuild so quickly in my journey had it not been for all of you. I'm hooked!
