This is my first foray into rebuildables.

device: SID
Atomizer: IGO-W
Coil: Micro Coil @ ~1.7ohms
Wick: Cotton

It works okay so far. I'm not 100% sure if I like it yet. I drilled the air hole out and the draw is a little more airy than I'd like. I have to lung hit it to get decent vapor. I probably should've experimented with the stock air holes first!

A couple of problems that I've noticed. I think I have a hot spot on one side of the coil. You can see in the picture that the coil isn't quite as tight on the right side, and the cotton is a little burned.

The second problem that I've noticed is that my SID reports the resistance as being all over the place. It will go from 1.7 to 2.2 to 8.5 and then back down?

Any tips?

I had the same wacky Ohms on my first micro I made. I scraped it and made a new one which has held 2.0 Ohms perfectly. I think my problem might have been that I didn't have the screws holding the wire tightened down enough. I'd say make a new one, practice makes perfect!

I like your coil, it looks good and tight. Did you hook it up (test it), fire it hot, let go of the button and pinch it a little while still warm with tweezers? That is a trick I saw to tighten and even up the coil.

Caveat... Take what I say with a grain of salt, I've only made two so I'm no expert. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will come along and set us both straight!

Good start at rebuilding. Yup your coil is not tight, it jumps around when the connections are loose. Make a second coil and it only gets easier and better with the more you do. The hot spot is from the side that is not close as it needs to be, you should get a glow starting from the middle.

I use 30 gauge and 8 or 9 wraps for 1.8 ohm builds. Good luck and happy vaping.
