For new members and folks who are just trying to find out what the whole vaping thing is about I can give you my take on it in two words: quitting cigarettes.
I smoked 2 1/2 packs a day from 1966 until last year. Like most vapers, I tried to quit numerous times using just about every method, pill, patch and gum ever marketed. These attempts were all dismal failures. I finally accepted the fact that I was a smoker and that, deep down, I just didn't want to change.
Last year I tried some convenience store e-cigs out of curiosity. When I realized that I could "smoke" them in my car and in the house without stinking everything up with stale cigarette smoke I got a couple of e-pipes and started vaping for the convenience of it in these situations. I didn't intend to quit cigarettes (mostly because I didn't think it was possible). Gradually, I vaped more and smoked less until, when I finished a pack of cigarettes at the end of June last year, I just didn't feel the need to open another pack - even though I had "emergency" packs in my car, at work, and three packs on my dresser at home. I haven't smoked since, I haven't craved cigarettes, and I don't feel like I'm on a crusade of denying myself to become a healthier person. I enjoy vaping as much as I used to enjoy smoking.
That's my experience. If you browse this forum (and other vaping forums) you'll find hundreds of unsolicited testimonials like mine.
Don't pay any attention to the health "experts" who claim that vaping is hazardous - either because e-juice contains a potentially deadly neurotoxin (nicotine) or because there is some unspecified danger that has to be researched. They don't have a clue or they're in bed with the drug and tobacco companies. You can bet that these experts aren't vapers themselves.
One last thing. I've saved a lot of money - but vaping isn't free. Since last year I've spent $1,350 on vaping products. $425 of that was for three e-pipes from e-PipeMods (they're not cheap, but they're excellent e-pipes), $125 was for durable accessories (two battery chargers and a pipe stand), and $800 was for consumables (clearomizers, batteries and e-juice). That may seem like a lot, but last year I was buying six cartons of cigarettes a month at $57 per carton. I was burning up $1,350 every 4 months.
If you've taken the time to read this far, do yourself a favor. Spend some money on a decent vaping device and some reputable e-juices (there are hundreds of flavors out there). You won't be disappointed.
