from what I have been reading, most people who boiled any of the atty's has killed them. The sonic cleaner seems like a good way to go, I just ordered one myself, and hope to revive a few clogged attys of mine. What I have been doing to clean mine, is simply running warm, but not so hot you can't keep your fingers under it, tap, then blow dry(mouth) to get excess water out, then use my electric blow drier on the cold setting to help get more of the water out, then letting them sit, thread side up, over night. This has kept them running for a while, but they do eventually get so much gunk in the fiber glass and mesh that you can't just rinse them clean. This is where I hope the sonic cleaner will come in. I also found another thread about carefully removing the mesh/bridge and fiberglass threads out of the atomizer, exposing the coil, then I carefully take a safety pin and gently scrape the build up off the coil, trying not to damage the coil. The hard part is not pulling the inner workings out when you remove the bridge. I use a tooth pick to hold against the ceramic piece inside while I carefully pull up on the bridge, after removing the mesh. I have done this to several of my 510 atty's that I thought were dead, they heated up, too much, and no longer produced vapor. I quickly found out why, the coils were crusted over and not making contact with the liquid. Also I think the air hole was getting blocked by the gunk. Now, I have to advise you only try this on atty's you know are not working right, and you have exhausted all other possibilities of cleaning/replacing with warranty etc... The only down side to removing the wick/bridge is the constant need to drip. But I have been working on a screen mod to fix this problem (at least for my 510 atty) that has been working pretty good so far. I have posted my findings about this in these threads:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/cartridge-mods/38161-brass-screen-mod.html

go to pg 19 and scroll down to where I have a photo posted, and my mod.

this is where I found the info about recovering your dead atty:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/polls/56499-510-atomizer-resurrection-mod.html

I am not taking any credit for coming up with these idea, simply expanding on them, and trying to share the info where I feel it will be useful.

I don't know how easy it will be to remove the bridge/mesh/fiberglass from the 901 atty since it is much deeper, but it is worth a try if it is heating, but not making vapor. Better than just tossing it out, without a try. I regret throwing away a few atty's that would not vape, but got hot. I just thought I had fried them. Good luck!

BTW, I just got my slim today, tried it out, and it worked just fine, though it does have that black greasy stuff on the threaded ends, not sure why, I found that to be a little messy. I am still deciding if it will be a keeper or not, just because I am testing out many other mods right now. I have nothing negative to say about the function of the GG slim at this point, I tested it with both the i3 and one of my 510 atty and got good vapor from both, once I broke in the new i3. After a few good puffs, I took off the i3 and rinsed it clean, set aside to dry, in case I don't keep it, I want to keep the atty in good condition for the next person. I will keep an open mind until I have a chance to get used to it, and also try out a few other batterie mods.

Very good advices friend and you were very helpful, I really apreciate your help here.:):):)

I am almost sure that after trying all small mods in e-cig world you will return to Slim. Thin, small, simple, immortal smoking device:)

Update on dead i3 atomizer # 3.....

It's back to life!!!! I don't have a clue....

I figured before I tossed it I'd give it a mega ultra sound cleaning.... I left it in a crest bath for 4 hours on high, then put it in the hot water side for 4 hours on high.... Dried it and walla..... It has also risen from the dead with it's extended bath....

All 3 i3 atomizers have now been resurrected from the dead....

SWEET!!!

I am however still having inconsistent switch firing but I have still not done the sand paper trick....

Off to Home Depot later to get some fine sandpaper and will give that a go....

Ok.... I think I am narrowing the problem down but I am NO expert on atomizers so maybe someone can chime in here....

The 3 dead atomizers that were brought back to life are causing my misfires... I just put a new, never used i3 atomizer on it and it fires each and every time...

So I guess my question is, it looks like the 3 resurrected atomizers are not firing all the time... Is there something I can do or check to solve this issue with them?

You could get a multimeter and check the resistance on them. I use one almost daily to see what is going on with them (plus you can use it for your batteries also). You will know when they are REALLY dead too. You want to measure the ohms of them.

Now sometimes the center pole of the atty will need to be pulled out a little bit. They are only held in there with a little silicone gasket and they can become pushed too far in and not make good contact with the atomizer connection. A paper clip works.

Let me just chime in here for a sec. I got my gg slim on Monday. Been using the same i3 since then. This thing rocks! No problems at all.

Rac, I hope you get your problems ironed out.

Imeo, great product. Very nicely made.

The other i3 atomizers are rockin..... I am just trying to figure out what the deal is with these 3 stubborn little punks....

Yes it does ROCK... The i3 are 510's disguised as 901's...

Thanks a lot yan and raq.:):):):)

Raq, I was thinking all day today about your atomizer problem but I can find what is going on. As Vapn said, please meassure the resistance of it and please put them on anopther cig (if you have one) to see if they work ok. If they do, then maybe the center pole of GG dont make a contact so please put a 1mm magnet on the batteries.

Please inform me about your results:)

I think I was having a moment of guilty feelings after buying so many different e cigs at once, but now that it has had time to settle into my mind, I do believe I will keep all of my PV's and just save each one for the appropriate use. It's a lot to take in, with so many choices out there, and I did just go on a shopping spree....weeeeeeeee

I already tried that and still the same... Thanks for the tip though... :)

Perhaps they were just bad from the start....

Very odd though.... From dead after a few puffs, to revived, to mis-firing....

I will let them rest a few days, try again and if they keep misfiring after that I will toss em...

Kris

NOO... if they have resistance they will work. I believe you are having an issue with the center pole not touching the atty connection. Do as Imeo has suggested and use the 1mm magnet to see if that helps push the center pin of the atty connection up enough to touch a bit harder on the center pole of the atty. Also you might be able to check with a multimeter what your voltage is at the atty connection while you push the button with varying degrees of force. Also wiggle it a bit while testing it. If you are getting a good constant flow of current then the atty is not making good connection.

Will do.... I wonder if they still may have been a bit wet inside as well... I let them dry for quite a long time but might try a blow dryer on low and see if that helps....

The 3 in question ( I have been using another one without incident all day and it fires all the time and kicks like a kung-fu champ) do fire, it's just intermittent which is what makes the 3 in question so odd.......

Thanks again for the help!!!!!

Ok I think my mis-firing has been resolved....

Instead of screwing the connector on the end cap in, I needed to back it out a little... So far it's been firing every time the end button is pushed....

Using a SLB 901 on it now but will test the i3(s) tomorrow and see if that solved their issue as well... I thinking it will....

I had backed the screw out that you showed in the photo but that was short lived and I started getting miss-fires again shortly after I posted.. Screwed it back down hand tight then gave it a slight turn with some needle nose....

Working better but I am still getting inconsistent vape.. I'd say 6 out of 10 times it fires....

Any other ideas???

Ok so I am not the brightest bulb in the pack... After day of frustration I finally decided to try something that was suggested to me previously.... Sand the contacts points....

Um.... It's been an hour and not a single misfire since I did what was suggested previously... Hummmm, yes it is true I am not the brightest bulb in the pack....

While the GG Slim is a sweet little device it is NOT dumb-prof and I am evidence of that....

So my challenge to iemo is can you make a dumb-proof device for thick headed numskulls like me??

<<<<--------- Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain... If I only had a brain....

On the bright side (pun intended) the Slim is kickin, no misfire in one plus hour and I am happy, happy, happy..... Not very bright, but happy...

It appears they have risen from the dead to vape again!!!

One is back to life and I am vaping on it now.... As for the other 2 I have only put them on the device for quick testing and I can hear the sizzling noise when I activate the device.. That tells me it's getting the power through the atty.... I will try the other 2 out to make sure they actually vape for about an hour at a time for all 3...

One is definitely back to life and it looks like the other 2 may be as well...

Odd.... I am using my AW 10440 batteries that are 3.7v and 350mah... The ones I got from VK are 3.6v...

Here is how I cleaned them: (I have a jewelry ultra sonic cleaner that has 2 separate cleaning bins. One is for solution and the other side is for hot water)

I cleaned them in crest solution for 2 hours on high, then put them into the hot water tank and cleaned them for 2 hours on low...

Kris

Can you tell us the brand and model of your "ultra sonic jewelry cleaner"? Thanks!
