I'm new. And overwhelmed. I had no idea that in order to have a good vaping experience I'd have to be a mechanic, an electrician, a chemist and who knows what else. Waaah!

I just want a simple, attractive, reliable, pv. Point me in the right direction? Has anyone started a pv mod business because I can see good money in that! I'd certainly pay to have someone do all my modding for me.

That's the great thing about vaping - you can get a great vape from both simple and advanced setups. Some people don't want to fiddle with rebuildable atomizers and apv's that could fit a fiat in them. You can get a great vape from something like a joye eGo and a cartomizer. Take it as far as you want but in the beginning take it slow, read the forums, experiment some. Everyone starting out goes "Whhhhaaaaatttt?" at some point but give it time and enjoy yourself and before you know it you'll find yourself ready to make the next step. it's a fun process but don't get too wrapped up in learning everything at once.

Hi Gina, welcome to the forum! I share your pain and confusion. There is SO much information here about SO many different systems and accessories and juices, it can be overwhelming when you're starting out. I agree with jshamm that it's probably best to start simple and take time to learn the ropes and develop your tastes and preferences. The eGo system is a good place to start, IMO, as the pieces are compatible with most everything out there, so if and when you decide to upgrade, what you already have will still be usable.

Trust me, you do NOT have to be an electrician, a mechanic, or a chemist to make a good start at vaping. (But be warned, you may find yourself becoming a bit of all three over time! It kinda sneaks up on you...

Live long and vape happy :vapor:

Hi Gina - look for something like this.

eGo Variable Voltage 650mAh Battery - Stainless w/Rubber Button

Kanger T2 Clearomizer - Blue - 2.2ohm - Long Wick

Kanger T2 Innard - 5 Pack - 2.2-2.4ohms - LONG wick (out of stock right now at this vendor, but you get the idea)

USB Wall Socket Charger - 500mah

eGo/510 USB Rapid Charger - 420mAh

I'd personally recommend 2 eGo Twists, 2 Kanger T2 clearomizers at 2.2-2.4 ohm, some (5 maybe?) replacement head/coils for the T2's.

The T2 clearomizer is super easy to fill, and is also super easy to change out the heads/coil once its burned out and replace it with a fresh one.

In addition the T2 is made specially for the eGo Twist, so leaks are much less likely.

2 chargers and then sampler packs of juice.

The above are the easiest and most reliable "fill n goes" for us folk who don't like fiddling about with this n that all day long.

Next the juice hunt: If you smoked a pack a day. order three different percentages of nicotine - an 18 for regular use, a 24 for "I NEED A CIGARETTE OR ELSE!!" use and a 12 or even 6 mg for night use (so you can get to sleep better)

The juice: Check out various vendors on forum. Stick with the smallest size bottle or sampler packs till you know what your preference is. Juice has 2 to 3 components - nicotine percentage as mentioned above; PG (propylene glycol) and/or VG (vegetable glycerin). PG accentuates the flavor and (along with nicotine) the throat hit. VG creates lots of vapor.

Order 1 smallest bottle of the flavor that appeals to you in 80/20 PG/VG, 1 smallest bottle at 50/50 PG/VG and 1 smallest bottle of 100% VG.

Why?

Some people are sensitive to PG or VG. You won't know which you prefer until you try them in varying ratios.

And finally - drink lots of water as both PG and VG will dehydrate you.

Hope that's of some use. Good luck

Just start out simple, like everyone else does, cuz that first simpler setup will become your much-needed "backup" anyway.

I have some pretty nice mods, but my Ego Twist and Vision Spinner, with clearomizers on top (vision/stardust, kanger evods now), still get plenty of use in certain situations, and they were my initial purchases. They really work great!

Those things, and a entry-level bottom feeder, got me OFF analogs and really made it all pretty durn easy.

To be honest, finding juice I liked was not as easy. That took me a few months. :)

Hulamoon's suggestion looks good to me and that vendor will take very good care of you, too!.

I agree with Racehorse. The eGo Twist or Vision Spinner batteries make a great beginner's setup, and should you ever feel inclined to get something more "advanced" they will always serve as a reliable backup setup.

Here is a dependable, easy-to-use beginner's setup. I've included videos on how to use the batteries and the juice delivery devices suggested:

Thank you everyone! I love this forum, but there are so many posts and so many opinions, it's easy to feel lost really fast.

A bit of info I should have included in my original post... I bought a No. 7 kit a couple of years ago, and choked and coughed and hated how it looked like an analog so I went back to smoking. A couple of days ago I got my ecab in the mail. MUCH better, but still coughing a lot. After doing a lot of research, I added some USP glycerin to my PG juice and viola... a satisfying vape! So I have some VG juice on the way, and while I do love the size of my ecab, I know I need another set up (or two) to make sure I don't slide back to the cigs.

Thank you guys for your links and advice. I see my wallet weeping in the corner as I type this. Off to follow links!

I would also recommend finding a good vape-only store near you. That way you get a face to face relationship and you get to see exactly what everybody is talking about, meet people that are in a similar situation and usually get to try many flavors without spending money. As with many things the sense of community is what has really kept me in this; I have yet to meet someone who's not willing to swap stories and generally be of help. Great to have you on board!

Hi! I'm new too and was just recently in your shoes (I'm still one foot in those shoes actually!) I cannot express how much this forum and countless YouTube videos have helped me on my journey.

My newbie recommendation: eGo Twist and some Kanger Evods. Good looking setup with lots of room to grow, both can be used with other things you'll find yourself buying in the coming weeks and months. Plus you can get Evods in many colors and keep different flavors in different corresponding colors, it's the little things that keep me amused :)

I have just hit the 11 month mark. I started with simple batteries and cartos. Every month or so I bought and tried something new. If I liked it I bought more...plus, in some cases replacement heads. I still use the original stuff, and newer stuff. It's been a gas gas gas.

Frankly, it was harder finding the right juices...that took me several months...plus an all out war with my taste buds.

Just take it one step at a time...enjoy it.
