oh, i almost forgot! To my fellow ohioans, I'd like to keep in touch. Let me know if there is anything in the tri-state worth looking into. (r/ vaping, of course) ;) I can't stand the overpriced stuff at the mall/smoke shops I've found so far.

I believe the guys who do the Vaporcast podcast are from Ohio, they do a pretty good show.

just sayin' :D

I've noticed you have posted this same type of information on various boards in this forum, and I'm just wondering why?

All that DC LR means is that, typically, the carto/tank system contains two 3 ohm coils wired parallel so that the total resistance perceived by the battery is 1.5 ohms.

The total resistance percieved by the battery is 1.5ohm, true enough. However, the coils perform like they would if they were 3ohm coils, which they are. If you want to do an experiment, clip the wire that runs up through the batting and loops back down. You can snip it with a pair of manicure scissors. It won't hurt the carto. What it will do is convert it to a single coil 3ohm carto. Now, vape it on a 6V PV and you will notice it works just like it did as a 1.5ohm on a 3.7V. The version 1 Lavatube won't go above 3.7V with a 1.5ohm carto. This trick allows people with that PV to use their old DC cartos as 3ohm cartos.
I have been using 3.7 volt PVs with 1.5 ohm LR DC cartos and tanks for some time now. This setup performs beautifully and I've yet to fry a battery OR carto by doing so. My 800 mAh batts only lose about an hour or so in longevity due to the increased amperage, but I STILL get 10+ hours on a charge.
No, you won't fry a battery or carto. 800mah is plenty big enough to handle a 1.5ohm carto or two 3ohm cartos as the same time, which is essentially what they are doing. On a battery that size, it's not a matter of mah, it's a matter of Watts.

I can't speak for low mAh batts, but the LR DC cartos and tanks were DESIGNED as an affordable way to make the eGo type 3.7 volt batt perform like a 5+ volt batt and SR carto/tank system. YOU SHOULD NOT USE THEM ON A 5+ VOLT BATTERY.
Not quite. SC LR cartos and attys were designed to simulate 5V vaping on a 3.7V device because 3.7V/1.5ohm and 5V/3ohm both produce roughly 8.5-9 watts. That's LR Single coil, not double coil. You should not use single coil LR cartos on a 5+ volt battery because you will likely pop the coil and your pushing a very hot 16.7 Watts. OTOH, Dual coils work perfectly on a 5V battery. In fact, they don't hit their "stride" until they have 4.5V to 5V behind them.

Let's do some math, shall we?
Yes. Let's. I will write my notes in RED, rather than quoting each line.
A 3.7 volt battery with a SR 2.5 ohm tank = 5.48 watts and 1.48 amps. (Pretty standard)
Yes, that is correct.
A 3.7 volt battery with a DC LR 1.5 ohm tank = 9.13 watts and 2.47 amps. (I use this daily)
Here's where we veer off track. That 9.13 watts is split in half. Each coil is 3ohms so each coil is actually consuming 4.57 Watts. What you are doing is taking two 3ohm cartos, and vaping them at the same time. You are still drawing 2.47 amps, each coil is pulling 1.23A
A 4.2 volt battery with a DC LR 1.5 ohm tank = 11.76 watts and 2.8 amps. (I'd be afraid)
Same thing happening. Now each coil is consuming 5.88 Watts, almost a decent vape. Each coil is drawing 4.2/3=1.4A. No danger of popping a coil. Mediocre, cool vapor production but lots of it.
A 5 volt battery with a DC LR 1.5 ohm tank = 16.67 watts and 3.33 amps. (Not a chance)
Again, each coil is consuming 8.34 Watts. Now we have a very good vape. Each coil is drawing 1.67 Amps. There is no danger to the battery or the coil. It's the same effect as if we were using 5V to vape a single 3ohm coil, except we're getting twice as much excellent vapor. There is some current being drawn here, so you need a decent sized battery capable of handling the current draw. But it's nothing extraordinary for a good quality battery.
A 6 volt battery with a DC LR 1.5 ohm tank = 24 watts and 4 amps. (Inconceivable)
Nope. You're vaping a rather warm for my taste 12watts and drawing 2A per coil. A lot of hot vapor and a strain to the coils, and possibly the battery if it's small and doesn't have a good C-rating.
I also know that 11.76 watts is NOT necessary to achieve vaporization of ANY e-sauce.
Certainly not, but some folks vape at well over 12 Watts. I think 8 watts per coil, using 2 coils is the "sweet spot" for most juice I vape. I use 5V with a 3ohm coil quite frequently with no ill effect to the coil. A DC would give me twice as much of that same tasty vapor.
Not trying to offend, but I feel that the numbers speak for themselves.
No offense taken. It's a confusing concept.

LOL Sailor, I work with Quigsworth who posts regularly on this site. He's an electrician and every time he tries to explain that I get that glazed look in my eyes that sends me back to grade 11 math class. To the OP I know you may not be interested in a VV but if you stick with vaping your going to go there anyway. I would suggest a Lavatube (mini if the size is of a concern) the starter kit can be found for a cost pretty close to that of the Kgo.

good luck and stay with it.

Sailorman.

I have gained an infinite amount of respect for you, sir. You're like that awesome guitarist that fools everybody by only playing simple riffs, and then, in ONE song, plays an almost impossible riff and my jaw drops. WHERE DID THAT COME FROM??? BRAVO...BRAVO!!! I tip my hat to you as I HAVE BEEN BESTED YET AGAIN! :nun:.....
......
PPS - I STILL am confident in the knowledge that my 3.7 volt Leo with a DC LR clearomizer performs like a true champion, and has NEVER let me down. Nothing else that I have compares, and the vapor will absolutely CHOKE YOU OUT! Tastes great, too.
Oh, comeon. It ain't rocket surgery. There's plenty of folks here that can talk circles around me when it comes to electronic stuff. They're just hanging out in the mod forum or the geek forum or somewhere. My knowledge level in this area is pretty elementary. I don't even know what those guys are talking about, half the time. :)

If you like your Leo with a DC, more power to ya. Some people like their vapor pretty cool, and a higher resistance coil seems to preserve more flavor sometimes, hence the popularity of HV vaping. If you haven't already, you might want to experiment with some 2 or 2.5 ohm clearos, or a 1.25ohm DC carto. Maybe it'll be too warm, or maybe it'll hit the spot. I'd like to see a 1ohm DC for my 3.7V PV. I think they have 1.25ohm DCs, but I haven't tried one yet.

So after hours upon hours deciding what to buy, I finally make up my mind. I try and place my order at sweet vapes and it says it won't take my payment. I go check my account online and see that 3 mysterious debit/cc purchases have been made from Kroger in Atlanta, GA. What the hell?! Has anyone had problems ordering on this site? Has anyone even ordered from this site? I find it an odd coincidence, especially considering I rarely order anything online.

I did. They stopped the payments and are sending me a new card. I just wanted to know if anyone has ever had any issues with ordering through this site. The bank won't tell me how it happened. Anyhoo, probably a dumb question, but I'm just lost. I've never had anything like this happen. I mean, my entire account was drained. Several transactions, totaling up to hundreds of dollars, were made over the course of 10-20 minutes! Yikes!

(I was ordering the kgo/cartos/juice/etc.)

Holy crap ya that sucks.... So you place your order on the website CC info blah blah blah and then with in the next 20 minutes your account starts getting hit?? Hhhmmmm. Did you get any sort of confirmation email from the website with regards to your order? Wonder if they're site has been.... compromised.. Well at least they stopped payment for you.

I just read what I wrote and realize this is a dumb question. I'm just freaking out and not thinking too clearly. I've read great reviews about their juices and I'm sure the site itself is not at fault. So I'll rephrase. Has anyone had this happen to them while placing orders online in general? How does this happen? I really want my order from there, but I'm afraid it will happen again. Any suggestions on anything I can install to prevent this from happening again? (i'm not the most computer savvy)

A lot of people have ordered on that site and this is the first time I've heard of a problem. Was it not taking your payment because a credit limit had been reached? Generally, if a site leaks CC info or has a security problem, the unauthorized charges happen after your order has been accepted, not before. It's strange that Sweet Vapes wouldn't take your payment. How did they know there was a problem? It sounds like your CC detected suspicious charges and shut your card down before you tried to use it at Sweet Vapes.

Kroger is a grocery store, obviously. Were they large amount charges, or small ones that may have been used to test the CC number? Sometimes, a number is traded or circulated or sold by scammers and they'll make some small charges to see if it is still valid.

I received no confirmation email. I completed the order and all it said on the site was " order declined. payment can not be accepted" That's not verbatim, but it was something like that. So I immediately check my account and that's when I saw these "signed purchases" They were from Atlanta...at Kroger! I know the company is nowhere near there, so it's probably a good assumption to say that it's not them. I'm just not exactly sure how it happened. I read some post on this site from a guy who had a similar thing happen to him while ordering from another vaping company. People responded saying something about being infected by a key logger. ??? No idea. I feel kind of stupid now....for not knowing about this kind of stuff. I really need to learn how to protect myself. Someone also suggested using the "on screen keyboard" when using cc info, but I'm not sure what that means.

No, that happened before Sweet-Vapes got involved. Your account had already been drained.

This doesn't just happen online. In fact, it probably happened at a B&M store, a gas station, a convenience store or restaurant. Have you handed your card over to a cashier, waiter, clerk, etc? That's all anyone needs to record the info. Next thing you know, it's on an underground website for sale.

Online, make sure the site your dealing with has a secure payment system. There's usually an emblem or something to indicate it. Make sure the URL on the checkout page begins with https. Use an anti-virus that will detect keyloggers.
Don't check any box that asks if you want your CC info to be remembered in your account.
Go to Lastpass.com and set up a free account. You can use it to automatically fill in your CC info and other passwords without having to type in any numbers. That way, even if you have a trojan or keylogger, they won't be able to capture your CC info.

A lot of CC fraud gets blamed on online activity when, in fact, it's happening right at your neighborhood pub or restaurant. If you ever looked at the dumpster behind a department store or mall, you'll see where a lot of fraudsters get CC information.

Sailor's pretty much summed it up, If your order came back declined than there were no funds in there before you made your order. And yes I've had my CC company close down my card after making a bunch of online purchases before. When I called them they listed off a bunch of items and when I said yes they're fine they stated " oh.. sorry it's an auto feature of our security software" I replied with Oh.. How bout next time you phone me when you shut down my card as PART of your security features.. lol..

At least now your CC is aware of it.
