I got a package in the mail this morning, it was my new Bloog kit. I was too impatient to let the batteries charge, so I pulled out the pass through and went to town with it. When he got up and sat in front of the computer, he was a little confused and was like WTF is this? I explained how it's plugged directly into the computer and you don't have to wait for the battery to charge. He gave me a funny look and said, "So basically, you're smoking my computer?" .............

Many passthrus should not be used on a computer USB. A PC's USB is only specced to provide 500mA of power (i.e. enough to recharge an ecig battery). I only use a PT on a 2amp USB to AC adapter.

I am no good with the math but I think you probably need slightly over an amp if the Bloog voltage and their carto resistance are similar to Vapor4Life? Like 3.7v battery and 2.7ohm-ish carto?

Your computer might just get "smoked" if you leave it plugged into the USB. Please get a wall adapter for it. Computer USB ports for the most part don't supply enough power to properly use a PT.

True. And some provide even less current than that - 300 mAh per USB port. Some computers provide utilities, diagnostics or drivers that will show you what amount of current is available at your USB ports.

These are high current devices and really using them on a computer USB port is not a good idea. With AC/USB adapters more amps is always better, but even a 1 amp (1000 mAh) AC/USB adapter can be had for as little as three bucks on Amazon. It just isn't worth the risk of running a passthrough off a computer USB port.

My husband is also an IT guy and the responses here has had his brain running in overdrive. We have an iMac with a 3.0 USB port, and I've always used it to charge my batteries and never had a problem with it. When my husband read the responses, he was bound and determined to call BS, but couldn't find enough info to back either scenerio. The only info he could find was for the 1.0 and 2.0 USB ports. He even called the customer support at Bloog to find more info, but he's pretty sure they were giving him wrong information. They claimed the pass through only puts out 5ma (not 500), which can't be right. And to make matters even weirder, my pass through doesn't work when I plug it into the USB wall adapter. I tried different ports and different adapters, and none of them worked. I thought I fried the pass through, but when I plugged it back into the computer, it worked. I don't know WTF is wrong with it, but it's staying in the box 'till I figure this out, lol.

"So basically, you're smoking my computer?" .............

The USB spec is 500ma @ 5v, or 2.5 watt. An ecig can be ~ 3.7v @ 2.5ohms or 5.5watts, maybe 4 watts at 3.5ohm. But still a good estimate is an e-cig requires twice as much power as USB spec. Now, we often have devices that operate beyond USB spec. Many PCs "can" operate beyond USB spec.
