My Janty Stick turned really hot

i used it while it was plugged into my computer to charge. It's been fine... but then all of a sudden when i picked it up the WHOLE THING was very hot!

the switch wasn't stuck on or anything, none of the power was being drawn to the atomizer. I think the battery was shorting, as the battery cover was the hottest part, and so was the battery when i pulled it out.

The battery was a funny sight. the insulation is all messed up! You can't really tell from the photos b/c i only have a crappy iphone camera but the insulation looks as if it shrunk. This is evidenced by the fact that the printing is slimmer toward the shrunken end.

Is this insulation shrinkage the cause, or the effect of the short??

sounds like a batt failure (possible short but would be internal). outside chance of over discharge but the JS should prevent that with its internal circuit.

shrinkage was due to heat associated with venting - think of shrink wrap

The batts you get with these and even replacements are probably the cheapest I've ever seen. So you can expect some weirdness with them, when I have one that acts the least bit funky it goes to the trash. After all it's a lot cheaper to replace a batt than a JS.

Don't put them in a pocket with change. I had a JS battery heat up having foolishly popped it in a wallet zip pocket when abroad. I had forgotten that there were a few coins in that pocket. End result? VERY hot coins and a battery in the bin. No burns - it could have been a lot worse!

Man maybe I shouldn't leave my JS plugged in overnight then. Kinda creepy story, hope bad batteries like that aren't common! Glad everything is OK now mate and THANKS FOR THE WARNING!
