When I ordered my first PV I had no expectations of quitting smoking. I would have been happy to cut down but I was one of the lucky ones who was able to quit almost immediately. I just took to vaping instantly and actually liked it better than I ever thought I loved smoking. Yes... I loved smoking. vaping provided me with all of the psychological tactile sensations that the other various"quit" methods failed to do.
I was vaping and smoke-free for the better part of a year when I started hanging out with one of my chain-smoking friends swapping stress stories with a bottle of Tequila and one night I decided to buy a pack of smokes. Oh, I honestly believed I could just smoke a few when we were drinking and talking, but within a week I was back to smoking and before I knew it I had ramped myself up to almost two packs a day.
My vaping supplies were packed away in boxes for the summer while I smoked. I kept telling myself, "Next week, no more cigs - back to vaping". Next week turned out to be in December.
I'd already been given the COPD diagnosis a few years back. I started smoking when I was twelve. After thirty years of smoking that's pretty normal. Vaping had given me back a lot of health benefits including a much healthier respiratory system.
My summer romance with cigarettes turned into fall, then winter and in December I ended up in the hospital for a week with Pneumonia. When getting the "quit smoking talk" I told the Pulmonologist that I had successfully quit using an e-cig. He was thrilled and encouraged me to go back to using it.
While getting the "quit smoking talk" from the Respiratory Therapist I told him about my success with e-cigs and he said he wished that everyone who smoked would start using one. Another positive endorsement among many I've received along the way. He told me to go home and get back on my e-cig.
Since I'd gone through the physical withdrawal from cigarettes while sick in a hospital bed it was a no-brainer. Through all that when I got in the car to go home all I wanted to do was light a cigarette! I didn't crave at all in the hospital! I get in the car and the first thing I wanted was a damn cigarette.
I got home, pulled out my vaping boxes, charged my batteries, got set up and I have not had a smoke in almost a month.
I started with a 510 and moved to an eGo/Tornado when they were first released. I weeded out all my old crap, ordered a bunch of new batteries and atomizers and was happy. I made it through the holidays. I chain-vape and didn't even mind swapping out the 510 batteries because I always have a bunch charging.
One day I must have been really vaping my head off because I got tired of doing the battery swap dance and pulled out my eGo. I do like the long battery life. I always went back and forth using both my standard 510 batteries and my eGo.
I'm back into my eGo now but so much has changed.
Now to the questions...
Cartomizers for 510 - ordered some - the draw was airy to me on the regular 510 but on my eGo the cone fixes that and I can see the potential of them. Since I mainly drip, cartomizers will come in handy when it's not convenient (or safe) to drip. What are these Boge cartomizers I read so much about and why are they so popular? Who sells them?
I really want to expand my eGo battery supply, order extras in different colors... but - what are all these new models!?
Rivas, etc. I've scoured the boards comparing and trying to figure out the differences and who sells what, who makes which ... The Riva seems pretty popular, but who is the best vendor for this model? Is the battery life longer on the Riva than on the eGo/Tornado? Is it a better PV than the eGo/Tornado?
Everyone seems to be pushing LR atties - why? I really don't need a "hotter" vaping experience (if that is what they offer) - can someone explain the Low Resistance benefit and why the big push toward them?
Anyway - lots of questions, I know - so thanks for your help. It's good to be back.
