Celebrating my last New Members thread reflecting on my experiences to date, hopefully it will help some of those first starting out. I started with Blus a year ago and had my last analog in March. I joined ECF in August, and have never looked back. Some things I've learned in the last 3 months:

  • Ego style batteries are awesome - genuine, knock-offs, standard, twist - they all just work with minimal tinkering
  • I like sweet dessert vapes in 6-10 mg 50/50 PG/VG - like lots of newbies, I first ordered 24 mg juice and the headaches told me I needed to cut down. I am still going through juice I ordered in the first days of overzealous purchasing, but I cut way down with VG and add cream or caramel flavoring to a lot of the fruit and tobacco flavors I found I don't like
  • No better flavor than dripping, anything that gets between the juice, the coil, and you degrades the vape - I've gone from cartridge atty, to bridgeless atty, to a Phoenix rebuildable
  • For on the go vaping, the Vivi Nova is great - I went through cartridges, cartomizers, and Vision clearomziers. The Vivi Nova doesn't leak, easy to clean and refill, the heads are cheap, and I can rebuild the wick and coil with whatever wick and resistance I want; next step is to try a DUD with a stainless steel wick
  • Variable voltage opens up a whole new world -adjusting voltage depending on my juice flavor or mix, the device I put my juice in, even the time of day has really improved the experience. I can't go back.
  • Do not get upset at things not working, and have backups - I've had cartomizers that are DOA, drip tips that don't fit on anything, 2 lavatubes I've had to return, battery pins I needed to pull up, Vivi Nova and Phoenix bases I had to push down, juices that taste like plastic or perfume, clearomizers that leak, lots of juice in my mouth, lots of juice onto my battery, batteries that don't fit, coils that short my battery, all in the last 3 months. It's all part of the learning curve and the poor quality control in our China-made devices. Still so much better for me than my previous American-made cigarettes.
  • Budget - I have happily spent way more than I had originally planned on hardware I quickly moved away from, juice flavors I hate, more drip tips than I will ever use, even blue foam from Petco. But what a journey!
  • Many, many generous folks here on ECF - so many people willing to help out with advice, beta testing new hardware, putting in hours cat-herding co-ops, paying it forward with juices and devices they no longer use

A huge thank you to all the great folks here who have helped me get this far. I look forward to continuing to be a part of this great community.

well said, I have only been at this a short time and agree with all you have said, it is a journey and a little frustration at the same time but it gets better everyday and the more you read the better it gets. I feel fortunate to be a late comer as I have not amassed a lot of equipment and there are exciting things happening right now with mods.

Awesome last Newbie thread. Kinda feels like your moving out of the house, doesn't it? ;)

You can always come back to visit and pay it forward like most of us graduates of the New Members section. With all the experiences you have gone through (much more than I) you will be able to help along all the many newbies that are following our graduating class.

Definitely not moving out of the house. But I do feel like I am getting to move to the Thanksgiving adult table. I know how to properly use a fork and knife, without someone else having to cut my turkey nor being forced to eat green bean casserole.
