When someone asks me for a light I don't have one anymore. I carried a lighter for decades and still reach for it in my pocket out of reflex sometimes. When I get home and empty my pockets there is something missing. I may have to start carrying a small flashlight since I don't have a lighter to help get the key in the lock or find my way across a dark room. When I'm out I don't know what to do with loose threads except pull on them since I can't burn them off. I can hear that clinking noise of a zippo really clear in my head. The light callous on my right thumb is going away. I have a whole bunch of bic lighters in my emergency drawer. I buy them often because an article rings in my head by someone that wrote about their experiences in Serbia. He said that after the collapse the most valuable thing they had for barter was a bic lighter so they could stay warm and cook, they were more valuable than gold. I miss my lighter but am not going to carry one anymore, but I will probably have one not too far away.

Haha. I've noticed this as well. It's been a long term trusty friend that just has no place with vaping. Funny thing, when I started with cigalikes and was still smoking, I tried lighting my cigalike more than once. I much prefer the larger batteries now as I never once accidentally tried to light it on fire. ;) I'm keeping my lighters in a box for the zombie apocalypse...should be useful, I think.

What I've been loving is when I'm vaping out in town and I get hit up to bum a smoke. I'm still working on the perfect clever comeback for that one.

Oh don't you just love that when they come around. The ones who haven't quit smoking, the ones that have just given up buying them ... lol.

The Zip EZ is pretty badass.

You mean you're not supposed to light the ends of these things? No wonder it tastes like burning plastic.

Was vaping in the park and I caught the eye of a vagrant from a hundred yards away. He walks all the way up to me to bum a smoke. "It's an e-cig," I say, "I quit smoking." Could see the gears grinding in his head, confused the hell out of him. Mumbles and walks away. lol

Poor guy, he probably got excited when he saw what he thought was smoke coming from your mouth.
Yah shot him down.

I know you're joking but for others and just for the record: I wasn't "blowing clouds" to attract homeless people and then telling them to stick it when they try to bum a ...., thinking I was smoking instead of vaping -- that would be deplorable behavior. I'm usually quite stealthy if and when I vape at all in public, which is rare. Just don't want to give anyone the wrong idea. The guy did just happen to see me exhale from a long ways away and I did feel bad for him that he walked all that way for nothing from me. Despite my name and avatar, I am not a socially in-your-face type guy at all. I just play one on the internet. ;)

I've just kept my zippos and some rolling papers in case a friend visits and needs a paper or 2. Having the smoking stuff around hasn't been a temptation for me, I'm really over the stinkies.

I had a smoking dream last night, oddest thing, and this morning I just had a vape and a tea, no urges to go out in the rain to buy some tobacco.

I keep one zippo around just so I need to light a fire. Just the other day, I went to my grandfather's 95th birthday. They got the cake out, put the candles on, and my grandmother said "we need to ask a smoker for a lighter". It's funny, about 10 people looked in my direction. I just raised my eyebrows, shook my head, and just said "I got nothin'.... I quit". Then all of them turned to my sister... "Stephanie!".... I just giggled.

I'm working on my sister to stop. She has a small EGO battery and has seriously slowed down the stinkies... Now she needs to just go that one extra step to fully quit.

[QUOTE/]I get that all the time, I run a pizzaria near a shelter and vagrants are always hanging around. they see smoke, they come a runnin'.
I always have a bic in my pocket, former Boy Scout.
