My much beloved little brother, 2.5 years my junior, is having dangerous issues with his blood pressure. I mean 206/130 - terrifyingly high. He went to see a family doctor who ran an EKG and sent him straight to a cardiologist. Tests indicate that he has had at least one mild heart attack in the recent past and his heart walls are VERY thickened due to the high BP and his heart is enlarged. He has been placed o two different medications to try and get his BP down and within 3 days of taking the meds, his top # has dropped to 130. Not sure about the bottom #. He simply MUST stop smoking and lose a substantial amount of weight, too. The problem is that he lives with two smokers, (even tho they do not smoke in the house), and I seriously worry about his will power. I was/am lucky as I was the only smoker in this household, so it made my quitting soooo much easier.

Anyway, he stopped by today and I got him set up with a 510 system. 3 batteries, 3 attys, a couple dozen cartridges, a PCC, and lots of samples of various e-juices in varying strengths of nicotine. He was very envious of my KGO set-ups and was making noises about using an eGO tank system, (apparently a co-worker uses one of these and being a guy, shiny new toys are good).

My way of thinking is that the 510 set with the PCC is the best kit for a brand new vaper. He can always step up to bigger and better things later if he so desires. Fortunately he works about 3 miles from Vaporessence in Richardson, TX and he also has to pass my house every day as he heads to/from work.

I am hopeful that he will join the forum. I did send him the link so that, at the very least, he can come here and gather information and educate himself about all things e-cig. In the meantime, I ask for prayers for my brother, Christopher. Prayers that he will stay strong and be able to quit the analogues once and for all, and that he will be able to get his BP under control safely, and quickly.

I will send him a link to this thread, so that he knows y'all are pulling for him, just like me.

Thanks,

~Tiger

You can do it!! If I did, anybody can. I know what it's like to fight with your BP as well, mine was sky high even after I quit smoking. It took me turning into a salt nazi with my diet to reign it in. The upside was it got me eating healthier, so I started losing weight as well.

My BP was averaging 170/95 and now its down to around 118/70. Don't lose hope on the diet either, it took about 3-4 weeks before I really started to see an impact on my BP because of it, but during that time I lost 12lbs just from eating better. If you get a chance look at the Dash Diet, it helped me a lot. My sister is an RN and she pointed me in that direction. I'm pulling for you, cause I know how much of a struggle you're going through. :D

Christopher, you can do this! You may even be able to help the other two people in your home start Vaping too. In my experience it is very helpful to have other Vapers around you who can share in your joy in each milestone and your new hobby of Vaping! Your sister will be a great help and support to you I'm sure and you can always come to ECF for information and support from fellow Vapers.

Christopher,

Here's hoping that you can make the switch to vaping! It is a life enhancement compared to smoking.

Give a 'holler' if ya need any help or encouragement.

Oh, and give your 'big' sis a grateful hug!

Christopher,

Praying for you, buddy. Good luck with vaping & dieting. I had a heart attack in 2004. I had to have a stent put in because of a clogged artery.

Vaping has helped me, my arteries are cleaner & my BP got a lot better & I'm now off meds. It would have been better if I had PV's in 2004. But, I'm glad I found e-cigs, I'd have never quit it without them.

Christopher, you can do this.

I, too, was once classified among the "walking dead." I was smoking and obese, and my blood pressure was off the charts. I didn't have your sis or the resources available to me that you have. E-cigs hadn't been dreamed up yet. I lost the 10 percent body weight required, but it was hard. That was 15 years ago. I didn't lose the smoking until just last month, when I rediscovered e-cigs (I tried them a few years back when they were new on the market and not near as good as they are now). Now I'm working on weight again, too.

I have to keep going because of the cancer risks in my family, and heart disease because of my weight. But, you know what? We can BOTH do it with the support of friends and family, and you have both here, Christopher.

Hang in there, find the battery and cart/juice that suits you, and stick with it. It will be worth the life saved - your's.
