My long journey

I have tried for years to quit smoking. It's been an on and off process and all my fault to why it didn't work. Each time I wasn't mentally ready to deal with the stress of stopping. Last week I became determined to stop once and for all. Today I am starting to feel real results including my first day in a long time of only having 2 analogs. Figured I would share my first real step in stopping.

I reckon I was one of the lucky ones as I stopped smoking immediately when my first PV arrived. I was a 2 PAD smoker for 35 years and it even surprised me how relatively painless it was. One thing I know has contributed to my success is having spares for everything hardware related and plenty of juice on hand. When I decided to stop smoking and start vaping I bought a LOT of stuff as this was going to be a one way trip for me. I've read a ton of threads where folks put down smokes only to pick them up again if a battery died or they ran out of juice or cartos. Yes, I've spent way more in the past 2 months that I would have on cigarettes but that's a moot point for me as I needed to stop smoking.

Two of my kids have followed me down this path so that was also a part of my resolve. My smoking may have contributed to their smoking so I was going to be a role model for them. They are having a harder time putting down the smokes and even after 3 weeks they still have 1 or 2 in a day. I just remind them that 1 or 2 is a lot better than 20 or 30 and to just stay focused. I'm living proof this method does work...

You know I know how you feel a little. I figured I was a bad example with my smoking to people around me. I want to be able to quit but I actually enjoyed smoking to much lol. Now I am slowly getting this monkey off my back enough that even my girlfriend is impressed enough to want her own ecig lol.

Good for BOTH of you!

There's tons of posts on here about "I quit the 1st day...blah blah blah." Good for them, no offense. However it doesn't have to be like that... and isn't for everyone. I "started quitting" weeks before I actually quit. I made dang sure that this whole e-cig thing was going to work out 1st. And I had spares set up and enough juice to go for a few weeks.

Eventually, I decided not to buy any more cigs and just quit.

You MAY find that there's still a bit of withdrawal. You'll get over it quickly. Just make sure that you have some spares and enough juice (maybe in different strengths) to get you and the GF through the hard times. Atties/cartos too.

As you save $$, you can get more stuff. If the GF gets an e-cig too, and it's the same one, then you'll have access to a spare charger and such in an emergency.

Good Luck!

That's about how it went for me.

I didn't get into it with an intention to quit, just to cut way back and hope these goofy, gimmicky e-cigs would take up the slack. About two weeks in, I woke up one morning with the realization that I hadn't smoked a single cigarette the day before.

Go easy on yourself. Relax. It'll happen when it happens. In the meantime, white knuckles do you no good.

Good for you Banshee! What pv are you using? There's plenty of support here. Do it however it works best for you! I was so excited to get my vaping stuff that I didn't realize for a couple days that I never had that "last cig" I missed that, but was a couple days in, and not willing to give that up. About day 4 I had a complete meltdown. I was having serious issues with the polyfil cartos. I had 7 loaded with various juices, and they all tasted horrible suddenly. Like they were burnt. I realized later they weren't, but I couldn't vape them and I got a little crazy that day. I did light a cig only to realize that wasn't satisfying either and tasted just as bad, so 3-4 puffs later I put it out. There have certainly been days I wanted so bad to light up, but vaping got me through it. But don't stress if you do need 1 or 2 a day to get over that hump. The stress makes it worse, and like NGIB said.....1 or 2 (if you can limit it to that) is a milion times better than 20-30 or more.
