First, let me say....MADOG - You are the man!!! Thanks for all of your detailed info!

Today, I placed a DX order for CR2's, chargers, and 9 LED lights to make a few magnums. I figured I'd do some beta testing prior to receiving all of my goods. I used a 9 LED from Home Depot, some 1/2 SCH40 PVC, an old 901 battery connector, and put together an amazing thing in no time. Since I didn't have the rechargeable CR2's, I sucked it up and bought 2 non-rechargable from Radio Shack for testing's sake.

It's a simple version, using the prewired on-off button on the bottom of the flashlight to feed power to the atomizer, and I used the plastic lens to affix the battery connector. I wanted to see how it worked before putting in an LED and a tactile switch and spending a whole bunch of time getting it "perfect."

So...This thing is AMAZING! The vapor is so strong... I can't even explain. The 6V is wonderful, though the atomizer does get awfully hot very quickly. But that's not a problem, cause I can't do more than about three 5-second pulls of vapor before I start coughing. It's that strong!

In short, I can't wait for the DX stuff to get here and built a couple more and not spend a redonkulous amount of $ on more CR2's (or 901 batteries)

If you haven't tried making one yet, you should! :D

Hey Pete are you using RN4075 atomizers ? I found that when I used those they would heat up to fast and make the juice not as tasty , the true SLB 901 atomizers are perfect for the magnum still great hits but they don't heat up like the RN's and I use much less juice and the flavor is still great get some true 901 attys and you will be amazed .

Yes sir, I'm using the true 901 atomizers... and wow, they work super well! :)
Juice consumption is pretty good, and heat isn't too bad either!

Thanks for the heads up! :thumb:

How do you tell the difference? Most sites just list them as 901's. Do you have a prefered vendor for these? Thanks in advance.

Good grief...where are the pictures that are proof positive of the birth of this device?

Here we are... some quick snaps. Damn, this thing is great... and batteries last most of the day! What an improvement...

This is my second one that I've made. I included a switch (SPST) which makes it WONDERFUL to use now! It's the perfect size to hold in my hand and push the button with my thumb.

6V is the sh*t. :D

pete: nice job! That model feels really good in the hand.

I just built one about a week or so ago using the same case. I found it a bit more difficult to build than the flashlights that madog used. Wiring and loading the components from the bottom was way morechallenging than having everything feed into the case from the top.

YES!!! I definitely agree... The top loading flashlights should be here from DX soon, hopefully, and I'll take another stab at a different model. It's really tough loading from the bottom...

Thanks!

You probably won't be able to tell the difference until you actually get them in your hand. Some of them will have the number inscribed on the positive contact on the atomizer. I have a few from Totally Wicked, and they have no markings at all. I have a couple others that have "SLB BD 47744" on it.

You may be able to call the vendor and ask, but not sure what they will tell ya. You can also try the classifieds here - most people tell you which ones they are, and you can also ask....

Sorry, I do not have a preferred vendor just yet. Still in trial period - only been vaping for a bit over a month...
