Hello ECF!
For the past 5 months ever since I got back into vaping, I've been on a never ending search for an extremely specific taste in my ejuice.
I'd vaped for years and quit a while back when relapsing on analogs, and started up again 5 months ago via the blu cigalikes. My first taste of these new ejuices was the NEW blu classic tobacco flavored tanks in high 2.4%/24mg nic (NOT the old blu classic tobacco that johnson creek produced for blu, but the new classic tobacco flavor that blu claims is naturally extracted and made with USA ingredients only). For UK and non-USA readers, I have been told that this recipe is different in your country.
Ever since I've been on the hunt to try and find something that even resembles the flavor of this new recipe blu classic tobacco ejuice. I've gone through NET liquids, WTA liquids, I've gone through goodejuice, HHV, Uncle Junk, NET.COM, black note, Beard Co, Wholecig, and some of johnson creek.. I've tried alot of juices from ALOT of vendors not listed above, even high end 'gourmet juice' vendors, NET's and artificial tobacco's alike, and even signed up for craft vapery and zodist in the hopes that I might stumble upon it randomly, but 5 months later, and 50+ bottles of various tobacco juices, and still, not even close! nor have I found an ADV I like in all of that searching... I'm still paying $14 for 3 tiny blu classic tobacco tanks daily, and 2 out of every 5 tanks basically arrives DOA or empty.. it's EXPENSIVE!
Dont get me wrong, there are some 'not so bad' ejuices ive run into, that if I hadn't a choice, I could bear to vape, but nothing is really 'that enjoyable' like this blu flavor for me. Alot of juices give me a chemical kind of taste that I am overly sensitive too as well it seems, if I had to guess I'd say it comes from the flavorants used.
Last night I made a relatively large purchase on RTS to pick up some VG/PG and 100mg unflavored nic, and picked up about 50+ flavor concentrates. So now I'm heading into the realm of DIY just to try and recreate this flavor.
It's ironic, really, because when blu switched the classic tobacco recipe away from johnson creek EVERYONE went haywire complaining and HATED this new recipe, but I just love it, and cant find anything else I truly enojy except for this juice.
I can't even begin to tell you how happy I would be if I ran into an experienced ECF member out there that has tried this new blu classic tobacco recipe juice and knows of something similiar in taste, or has an idea of what flavorings I could use to come close with DIY. When you first open the package of tanks it has an almost "buttered popcorn jelly bean meets pipe tobacco" smell to it, but it's a delicate scent, and it's difficult to pick up sometimes.
The flavor of the stuff tastes just like it smells, on the inhale there's a brown sugar and cocoa kind of sweetness that hits the tongue, and a serious amount of "spicy" sensation, almost as if they add capsicum or something of that sort -- when I take the first drag in the morning before drinking any water it's so peppery and strong I always cough (I've even tried vodka distilled water and Flash Hit enhancer to see if that was similiar, and it isnt at all similiar to the peppery inhale these blu tanks have, but I have not tried any capsicum based TH enhancers yet), it does feel like a nicotene peppery sensation/taste, but theres way too much of this type of TH for it to be a 24mg juice -- so they either add something to spice it up and strengthen TH, or lie about the nic dosage / %, it's hard to say.
On the exhale there is a solid base of pipe tobacco and cocoa with espresso coffee and a good amount of "buttered popcorn" jelly bean type flavor with perhaps maybe a touch of butterscotch, there is also this very strange and unique kind of creamy tea like "mouth feel" I get with this juice that I dont get with any other, almost like I'm smoking chamomile tea with cream -- the very minuet taste that chamomile tea creates on the "upper pallete" of the tongue just after it is sipped warm with cream, but it only seems to really come through when I exhale through my nose.
The biggest aromatic and taste hints that I get are that it reminds me of the taste and smell of the white and yellow colored buttered popcorn flavored jelly beans, and I could swear they use the same flavorings in part, but no amount of research can tell me what flavorings they use in that jelly bean, and I seriously doubt jelly bean co is going to let me know. ugh!
I do know that in an article blu mentions that it's impossible to create a nicotine free version of this new classic tobacco flavor because they claim the flavor is extracted from real tobacco -- it almost makes me think maybe they start with a NET or WTA extraction as a base and the tobacco flavor in this is not artificial tobacco flavorants?!?
If I had to guess what flavorings might be in it, I would say, a NET or WTA extracted from a medium to dark pipe tobacco at 24mg/ml nicotene(unless blu is lying about it being US sourced, it could just be a chinese or hangsen tobacco base), a capsicum based throat hit enhancer, a slightly but not overly sweet cocoa, an espresso coffee flavor, whatever flavoring is used in the buttered popcorn jelly bean, some kind of "herb" or tea flavoring thats like a mint-tea sensation without a mint or menthol taste to it at all(that gives that 'mouth feel'), and a touch of real citric acid added into the juice that I can sometimes faintly taste on the exhale.
I'm at a point where I have even considered paying an analytical lab service a serious portion of money to try and recreate the recipe or maybe even hiring a 'super taster' or something just so I can stop spending $14 a day on these closed system disposable tanks indefinitely.
If any of you have any advice for me, I am very eager and open to receive it. I would LOVE to hear some suggestions on DIY flavorings that match some of my descriptions above, or recipe suggestions, or juice mixes you have tried that taste like what I described. Even suggestions for ejuice already mixed that matches the descriptions above would be highly appreciated!
I Thank You sincerely for your time, and reading through that mess of text above.
