I started purchasing the Boge 510 atomizers from here - myPVshop Electronic Cigarettes - The Joye510 Electronic Cigarette

I researched Boge on this board but could only find information about their cartomizers, nothing pertaining to the new standard atty. Anyway, the owner of mypvshop recommend the atomizers and I've been really impressed so far. They fire up immediately, have a higher resistance and don't clog up, they give off a ton more flavor than the old Joye 510 attys and I'm quite pleased so far.

However, they run so hot that even after a 3-5 second drag, they're constantly melting my cartridges and I don't mean a little, I'm talking about to the point where I have to replace the catridge after only a couple of days. There's a fine line between a device that's considered safe and inhaling a bunch of plastic chemicals, surely that would be quite a bad thing. I'm trying to vape a little less and for a shorter (2 second) duration, but its not the same.

Please advice.
And also, does anybody have any info at all on Boge attys (not cartomizers).

First, I see LR, low resistance (1.x ohm) , Boge attys in your link, not higher. I have never melted a cart on 2.2 - 2.5 ohm attys from Joye and Riva. The cart should never get that close to the atty. I wonder how you're vaping? What batts are you using, too much power? Are you using carts or cartomizers?

Edit: never mind carto question, you said you don't use them.

There's so much info, I never know where to look. MyPvshop's owner is helpful, but I don't like to pester him over and over again.

I use Joye 510 Mega Battery:
Genuine Joye Mega Batteries with a 280 mAh rating. (Link: myPVshop Electronic Cigarettes - The Joye510 Electronic Cigarette )

There is no indication on the site of what ohm's those atomizer have.
It just says low resistance.

Can you explain to me, does lower resistance need higher battery power?

I'm no atty expert, but low resistance uses a little more power, drains batts a little quicker. The 510 Mega/XL is the same as the standard 510, only lasts longer. For that batt, your attys should not go below 2.0 ohms. And if you got LR Boge attys, they're too low.

Here's a table that matches atty resistance to batts, 2nd table Why resistance and voltage is important!

Many vendors don't possess as much info as experts on this forum. You'll get more and better advice here.

Maybe you should try a drip tip. ........... just sayin' ya understand

I stuff cheese in those carts and use them for bait in mouse traps.

And no, lower resistance needs less battery voltage.
But it needs to be large enough capacity to produce the power (watts)
    1.5 ohm @ 3.7v = 9 watts
    2.7 ohm @ 5v = 9 watts
    4 ohm @ 6v = 9 watts

Where the rub lays is that the capacity of the battery matters. 1.5 or less ohms should not be used on a battery that is less than 400mAh. A 650mAh battery can handle 1.5 ohms, but not less.
The most common battery used in mods is 2400mAh. Still just 3.7v, but a lot bigger.

The only time I've melted anything with an atomizer was the very first drag I took when I got my eGo. The atomizer had, what I thought, was a cart. Turned out it was the empty cart thing. Got a mouth full of primer smoke and a partially melted cart cap from the dry burn.

Are you dripping using one of the empty carts as a mouthpiece?

The point of all the voltage and ohm talk, is that if you purchased a lower-ohm atomizer, it will run hotter on the same device. You may want to go back to a more standard atomizer if the new one you bought is melting your carts.

+1 I have experienced the same issue with SR attys and carts. I still like to use carts with the blue foam on occasion and I try to make sure it's lined up when I put the cart on but they have a tendancy to spin on me anyways. I wish they would either make attys where the cart would only go on the correct way or make aluminum carts or use some other material that wouldn't melt.

You experts can all chime in with your knowledge of voltage and ohms. I don't feel particularly safe knowing I'm inhaling plastic fumes. Whether is melts when the cartridge is hot after usage or during is up for debate, but this requires further investigation.

We're all trying to help, but need more information from you. How exactly are you using these carts, what is the filler in there? How much juice did you put in? Or, are these prefilled with juice?

If you're uncomfortable with carts, you can always switch to cartomizers, but there is a learning curve on e-cigs. We have gone through these pains to get away from much, much more dangerous cigarettes, hope you can too.

Cartomizers? I just got done looking at a 500 page thread that shows how badly burned those things get, only to open the only one I ever purchased and noticed even after it's day long usage, it was fried. Nice!

I'm an experienced ecig user in terms of having the device cooperate, positioning the cart on the atty correctly etc, striking the balance with filling. I use the wool filler material I purchased over a year ago and its pretty liable. I've had no luck with Joye 510 atty's, as they never last longer than a week.

Perhaps I need to be more careful when vaping and taking the cartridge off as soon as I'm done. It'll require some experimentation to see whether it melts during vaping or after when the atty is hot as hell.

These devices have been around for at least 4 years, you'd think with all the talk of safety they'd stop poisoning us with deathly toxic plastic fumes.
