I started two Fridays ago with an njoy NPRO bought at Smoker Friendly. I didn't go with their own branded model which takes cartos, but it wasn't the greatest deal by any means. Definitely an improvement over the mall kiosk price though...the guy behind the counter was old school and not a fan of e-cigs, so he had no real input to contribute. Later I talked to another guy at the store who thought they sucked compared to the SF brand and so I taught him about dripping, and his eyes really opened...
Fortunately it is an RN4081. I wanted something NOW and did a quick search on my BlackBerry for "reviews" at the store to ensure my impulse buy wasn't totally mindless.
Of course what I found only really reviewed the heavily marketed JNOY, Blu, and GreenSmoke brands, and I was not immediately impressed with the device (especially not knowing about the primer on the atomizer). I was pleased when I found this forum and learned that RN4081s do have a loyal following and are good performers, they just have a bad "rap" because they're "wrapped" up by so many vendors and bloated in price.
Once I learned about "dripping" I was able to completely ignore analogs. Have no desire for them. Went 5 days without and tried one today, and like others have observed, it had less throat hit and left me with a teensy bit of a sore throat. Taste was not great.
I'm a hookah fan, I love peach, apple, tangerine tobacco/glycerine blends especially, so this has been a great transition for me.
I was fortunate to quickly find juices at a local kiosk (though rather overpriced, $20 for 15ml) and then find this forum. When I first read about dripping on some other forum, it was framed as "take the sponge out of your cart, blah blah blah." Not even a mention of the e-liquid sold in bottles, duh. Even at 20, far more cost-effective, far more fun to deal with IMHO.
I'm wondering if these "Colorado E-Smokes" liquids are Dekang...I got strawberry and peach and they're both decent, though I definitely favor strawberry. I still have some carts I can use to squeeze tobacco flavorings and did put in a nice order at TastyVapor. I also picked up a 501 and many parts, and today they kindly called me to inform me that they sold out of black attys and would have more soon, but could ship my order immediately if I could make do with red ones. I was happy to be given the choice and had no problem with it! Thanks guys, I loved getting a call from Gus and talking to Geoff too, love giving business to small and mid-size US businesses!
I also had a Blu on order, which I ordered prior to learning about how terrible their reputation is. Man, their marketing is brilliant if you hit their site before truly educating yourself.
I might keep the blu as it was a nice accompaniment to my RN4081 today
I envision it being something I keep around for friends to try and to take out on the town from time to time, and just another "live" e-cig to have in my e-liquid tasting rotations. It could become a hand-me-down for someone else with less consistent need to rely on the e-cig, someone who isn't struggling to avoid analog cigs forever, never again.
The blu atty didn't seem to be primed with much yuckiness.
Battery life isn't great at all, unsurprisingly, but two charged batts would get me by for an evening, unless they prove themselves to lose charge capacity quickly. I doubt the PCC will be that effective, it sure seems flaky about deciding when your battery is charged.
I'm surprised that the RN4081 is considered a "super mini" and the Blu is so much smaller. I like the fact that the blu supposedly works with 510 attys though I'm sure they'll zip right through that gimpy battery.
I like the fact that the carts are sealed, but dislike the idea of vaping with foil and the plasticky-crap underneath the foil. Just seal the whole carts individually in plastic plz, kthx!
I try to remove it all first and "work" the polyfill with a paperclip and adjust the position of the inner cart so that the juices are readily available.
Definitely wouldn't recommend the Blu to people but it is sexy. No throat hit unless you dip, but the atty is well-suited for careful dripping and sometimes I'm happy without a throat hit.
I've only tried their menthol (yum, though I never liked menthol analogs) and coffee flavors (yack) so far.
