I do love my two Grands and use them exclusively now. I've given up the chase. I've even gotten pretty decent at making my own liquid. My single problem is the straw.

This thing seems to hold the smell and taste of any fruit liquid. I won't even dare to run Pluid through it. I have bought extra tubes, but seem to always contaminate them. I've soaked in alcohol, boiled, baking soda, etc. Nothing works. I need like a hundred foot to just use it as a disposable. Just venting a little.

Any suggestions

have you removed the o-ring from the bottle and cleaned it with everclear or vodka (along with the bottle) ?

have you given your Grand a good hot water wash in the sink?

+1, That oring is probably the culprit. Squonk some high test alcohol through the tube and soak the o-ring and cap in it too, wash em' with hot water, it'll fade. I had the same problem.

I strongly recommend 2 things:

1. Get rid of the cap and the o-ring altogether. Take the nipple the fits in the bottle, cut around a 1/4 inch off the tip, and run a drill bit the size of the tubing through it to get it to the right inside diameter. This is the only thing that works with Pluid because of its tendency to blow out / swell O-rings. Anything that has citrus oils is going to be an issue, e.g. A lot of your fruit juices. This mod is cheap, easy, and results in getting rid of the Reo's biggest Achilles heel, that o-ring in the bottle. I do this mod on all of my bottles regardless of what juice I am running. It works.

2. This is more expensive, but if you have a favorite juice that lingers, like Pluid, dedicate a Reo to it. I sometimes run other fruity / sweet flavors in my Pluid Reo, but 95% of the time it carries that green stuff. Anything with a really bold sweet flavor masks whatever was in it before in my experience. If you really want to isolate the flavors beyond what a good cleaning will do, get some extra tubes and bottles.

I actually find that the Boba's that I run in my second Reo tends to linger more than anything else, but nothing that a good cleaning can't erase.
